Seems like just yesterday I was hearing about credit card companies drastically slicing credit lines and ramping up interest rates. Now suddenly our mailbox is again filled with credit card offers (after a long drought). Even my freshman D, without a full time job or any credit history, has received two offers geared to college students–while back in the summer I couldn’t get her a credit card at all.

Is this a positive sign in the world of credit, or is there some benefit to the credit card companies to sign up a bunch of new customers before the CARD Act takes effect?
