Curious about this one - It feels like there probably are not many who have experience with both of these schools, but if you do, chime in. D and H are visiting Whitman this week. It is closest to home as the crow flies, but no direct flights so it actually takes longer to get to than another top contender in MN. A couple hours shorter trip than to Saratoga Springs. Rankings-wise, these two sit very near each other on US News LAC list 43/41 respectively. Fewest days of precip/most sunny days of those D was admitted to other than Denver and Boulder.
I shouldn’t be chiming in because I haven’t been to both, but I’m sticking my nose in because my son graduated from Whitman in 2014. He loved the school and Walla Walla, he had a great experience there. Over the 4 years, as students made friends, carpools kind of organically formed. Students with cars picked up their buddies in their area or on the way and road trips ensued. Whitman is a very close knit community and I think those road trips cemented a lot of friendships. I hope your daughter enjoys her visit.
D has made her decision. After attending admitted student day Friday, she donned her Skidmore sweatshirt this morning and announced her decision, officially. She took the long way round to where we started (I wanted her to apply ED to Skidmore), but she did the process her way and now will not wonder if she would have preferred another school. On we go!
