Am going up to Spokane in July to visit with my D. As of now she is interested in a History Major and according to Ruggs, they have a good dept.

Need some info, especially from any students and/or alumni about the institution. Whats it like, how is the surrounding area, info on the History Dept, info in general about the academics. The usual for a stressed dad trying to sort stuff out.

thanks in advance

Whitworth is very small and very religious, it does not look like, nor does it feel like a typical college experience. Yet understand this is coming from a Washingtonian who prefers much bigger, secular universities. I have many friends at Whitworth and if that is what your looking for, Whitworth is ideal. There are many other college students in Spokane, a big plus with schools like Gonzaga and Spokane Falls nearby

My D has let it be known she does not want to go to the larger institutions, so this may be a good fit. The visit will tell a lot, but it is during summer, so I was looking for student input. If there is enough activity maybe Whitworth will get their own forum as well.

Spokanistan
Spokompton
Spoghetto

The location was my main reason not to look at it. Don’t know as much about the school. Friends that have gone there are fairly religious.

It does seem to be out there. Then again, in comparison to Walla walla its probably a thriving metropolis :)

^No argument there! Although level of activity on campus is also something to check out. While I’m sure Spokane is a great place, a suitcase school would hardly be desirable if you don’t live nearby
