I recently got into both whitworth universities honor program and drexel university but i didn’t get into their honors program. I got accepted into both for computer science but i got a little more aid for whitworth and i got the option of co-op for drexel. I’m leaning more towards whitworth but i’m worried about going to whitworth because the computer science program is unranked and am an international student from africa and aid is also very important to me. I’m torn between the two schools.
Congratulations on your acceptances!
I am more familiar with Whitworth than Drexel.
Whitworth is a welcoming place that virtually ensures summer internship placement for all its students. The students I have met from there have been very kind, friendly, and passionate about making a difference in the world. Whitworth is a much smaller school in a much smaller city than Drexel. I do not think of it as a school that is particularly strong in technology majors — I think of it as a better fit for students majoring in education or sociology.
Drexel seems more focused on nursing, business/accounting, and information technology/computer science majors.
But some students are more comfortable with a smaller school and smaller city and the Honors College placement means you would get even more individualized attention at Whitman. And the cost is better.
Have you looked online and compared the courses offered in your major at each school? Read the faculty bios, too, to get an idea of the background, experience, and focus of the professors who would be teaching you. Perhaps you could talk to an advisor or professor at Whitworth and ask about their success with job placement for graduates in that major and what those graduates are doing now.
Good luck!
Thank u so much for your feedback. I think the major issue for me is the fact that i don’t think whitworth is very strong in my major.
Yes, that’s why I suggested looking over the Whitworth courses and faculty and asking about student outcomes. That will either reassure you or confirm your concerns about the major.
Best wishes.
