Most of us have sent them in…now who evaluates them? I sent in an arts supplement (DVD of two monologues, a theatre/music resume, and a script of a play that I wrote); who will actually watch the DVD…a professor or an admissions officer?

I also sent in a science research abstract & a short essay on how it impacted me. Who will evaluate this?

I’m just curious as to who actually puts the time into looking at our supplements and making comments. Do the admissions officers even have the time to do it themselves?

The music and art portfolios are evaluated by MIT faculty members in the relevant area.

Other supplemental materials, like extra recommendations or descriptions of research, are evaluated by the admissions officers themselves (although many of them graduated from MIT and therefore have strong science/engineering backgrounds).

When you say art portfolios, does that include theatre?

Where did you send the DVD? Did you send it to the admissions office, or to the art/music addresses given on the website?

It was the admissions office. I did call to check to make sure it was received (it was). I’m just curious as to who’s evaluting it.
