ANY cc’ers apply for this one? There’s 160 of us out there and they are still deciding.

I know there’s some here lurking

I just got a call to let me know that I’m still not out of the running and that since they had SO many applicants this year…they have to ppd the selections from the 3rd week of april till the end of may.

I applied, but I highly doubt I’ll get it… I’m technically not old enough and I don’t live in the bay area… But I dunno, I guess if I get it, that’ll be exciting, and if I don’t, I have two more years. :-)

nah, i just got the call back because i left a message on his machine. my last contact with them was on the 27th. they said that the first rejections have been sent out but final decisions will not be made for a week or two.

yeah me too :). what is even better is the fact that we called, it shows we have great interest and desire in the program. post if you hear anything from them.

awesome
does that mean we are gonna get in
i mean i had straight As and a damn good teacher rec
how the heck are they gonna distinguish between people

yeah i bet you every applicant probably looks the same as everyone else. seems like they just want to get a good sampling of students from different high schools…

he told me the selection process was taking a long time because there were 160 applicants this year. 25% selectivity is not too bad. i’m not sure about how prestigious the program is, but the lab is one of the best in the world.

and yeah…i think the fact that we called gives us a great chance. he’ll probably remember our names because we’ve bothered them so much lol.

all a’s in science and math courses…cept for a b in bio
recommendation from head of science department at my hs (i’ve helped him catalog and begin to publish a handout on marine organisms of the pacific northwest)
recommendation from head of math department at my hs

other stuff:
intel excellence in computer science
first in category of science and mathematics at synopsis silicon valley science and technology championship 2004
varsity basketball
class officer
nhs

volunteer:
hospital intern
museum docent
aid for disabled children

i asked him what i could’ve done better and he said it was what the evaluators were looking for. i’m disappointed but i’m more annoyed at the one month delay in the results. i held off on other jobs/interns because of the delay. now i have to start again from square one…i’ll probably volunteer at a hospital and get a low paying job :|

my bad it was one i applied for so many…in that case just the recommendation from head of science department.

yeah it stinks…i hate how i called so many times and everytime he’s like your still in consideration and blah blah ******** in his happy voice. AND the month delay…really really deceiving
