<p>I need examples for essays. So who are some good literary characters? And what traits did they have?</p>

<p>Hester Prine (Scarlet Letter) - Proved society wrong and made a positive image of herself. A maverick to society</p>
<p>Ralph (Lord of the Flies) - Stays true to his ethics, and endures through the duration of disaster brought upon by Jack and his group. </p>
<p>Troy Maxson (Fences) - Blinded by his past, refuses to acknowledge change of times. Ignorant, yet responsible.</p>
<p>Can’t think of anything else right now, my brain isn’t working…</p>
<p>Her name’s spelled Hester Prynne. Keep that in mind. ;)</p>
<p>I always manage to reference Kurt Vonnegut and the anti-Vietnam movement.</p>

<p>^I doubt they care that much about the misspelling of an author’s last name. At least you didn’t spell Scarlet Letter as Scarlette Leter LOL</p>
<p>Prynne’s not the author, she’s the main character - the woman condemned to wear the Scarlet Letter.

<p>And though the CollegeBoard doesn’t officially deduct points for minor inaccuracies, it can be the difference between a ten and twelve to a biased reader.</p>

<p>–> general rule: don’t pick something totally obscured (unless you feel like wasting two minutes of your writing time going over the work)–it won’t make you sound more intelligent. It’ll make you sound more <em>pompous</em>, and the grader will get confused/****ed off/indifferent.</p>
<p>to ivychan: I read the Great Gatsby a few years ago, but I was always unclear on HOW i can incorporate Daisy Gatsby and Nick into these essays.</p>

<p>Well…Gatsby is someone (I think) you can twist many different ways for different questions.</p>
<p>I remember writing essays using the three of them in a compare/contrast manner (for a practice exam. It scored an 11 though XD); I totally forgot the exam question, but I did find one that you could use them in:</p>
<p>“What motivates change?”</p>
<p>Also, just remembered, Lord of the Flies is terrific =D</p>

Might try some Kafka works (the well-known ones) like Metamorphosis</p>
<p>Right metamorphosis can work too. But I think you could also make up some books and get away with it too. Like…</p>

<p>And make sure it exactly fits your topic. I love doing that sometimes. I dont do too well on the essay, but its fun. :)</p>
