<p>Can my son ask someone other than his teachers? Because I was timid in school and didn’t socialize much with the teachers :(</p>
<p>What does you being timid in school have to do with your son? But the short answer is no. Even timid kids do their homework, write papers etc.</p>
<p>My S was quiet in HS as well and had no problem getting recommendations from teachers. You don’t need to socialize with the teachers for them to write a recommendation. Teachers appreciate and can write about traits such as being hardworking prepared for class, etc. If your S is a rising senior he should be trying to line up the recommendations before the school year ends if there is still time (or else immediately at the start of senior year)</p>
<p>Also, if your S has an activity where he is more comfortable and outgoing than he is in school he can always ask for an extra recommendation letter from the person in charge of that program.</p>
