Who caught the bouquet at your wedding?

And were they the next one to get married?

My sister caught mine. She wasn’t the next one in our family to get married (my brother got married after me), but she got married after him, so she was the next girl.

Did you all throw the bouquet? Who caught it?

My girlfriend, a bridesmaid caught it. 25 years later she has never married the great man she has been with for 29 years! Even having twins did not get them to the alter!
So to each his own! Clearly I had a powerless bouquet.

One of my college roommates caught my bouquet. She married the guy she was dating at the time, but they got divorced. She is remarried now and lives in my area … haven’t seen her since the day I was married almost 29 years ago.

H’s fraternity brother caught the garter, and he has been married to a most wonderful woman for about 27 years or so. Guess the garter was luckier than the bouquet!

Didn’t throw one. Didn’t believe in doing it. :)

^^^Same here, no bouquet throwing, no garter. Just not into it 25 years ago!

Classof2015: I’m anxious to hear from you! PM me when you get the chance, thanks!

My bridesmaid. I aimed very well-a strategic hit. And she was the next to get married :).

My little sister caught my bouquet and her loser BF caught the garter. My parents were worried that they would be next to marry but fortunately, my sister came to her senses and broke up with him months later.

We got married in my parents’ home, and there weren’t any single women there anyway, so there was no tossing. But during the reception I walked into the living room where I had laid my bouquet and found my brand-new SIL removing one of the gardenias. (There were only 3 huge gardenias, among a lot of greens, so it wasn’t as if I wouldn’t have noticed.) She had just decided that she wanted one, so she felt free to take it. She wasn’t ashamed or embarassed at all. I didn’t know it at the time, but that kind of skeezy move is pretty typical for her.

I don’t remember having a bouquet. Didn’t throw it in any case.

My new husband’s teenage cousin caught mine. Her mom had died of breast cancer two weeks before our wedding and I was happy to see her smile.

Same here, only it was 32 years ago!

Same here, 26 years ago. I had never even heard of the garter thing when I got married. I’ve seen it since at weddings but don’t get it - why is it done?

No one–we forgot to do that…even had a “tossing” bouquet ready.

My husband’s crazy cousin caught it as she did every bouquet at every wedding she attended. She accomplished this by tackling any unsuspecting, available woman in her path, while simultaneously leaping toward the prize. It became a family joke.

She never married :)

My friends would have killed me if I engaged in bouquet-throwing: I don’t think any of us did it at our weddings. And I’ve always thought that the garter thing was vulgar. Sorry.

My 7-year-old cousin, who was my flower girl, caught mine. The photos are priceless.

We don’t do the garter thing in my family.

My cousin’s 60ish MIL. She cleared her path well…the photos are very funny.

I don’t remember! I don’t remember if I even threw the darn thing. Hmmmm… if I did, there are no pictures of it. We had a very small wedding, so I very well may not have. No garter thing in my family or my husband’s family either.

Edited to add: Looked in the wedding album and I did toss the bouquet. No recollection of who caught it. These senior moments are adding up!

At my sister’s wedding, my four year old son caught the bouquet!

At that time, we used to watch “A Wedding Story” together and he was fairly obsessed with weddings and brides. So, when my sister got married, he was excited to be the ring barer but his big dream was to catch the bouquet. When the wedding was almost over, my sister “threw” the bouquet to a “crowd” consisting of me, my mother-in-law and my son. My sister faced us and gently tossed the bouquet the three feet we were standing away from her. My son was thrilled to catch it!

It was the cutest thing ever and the pictures are fantastic.

Small wedding on my mother’s house. Did a casual toss just for tradition’s sake, not for any real meaning. It fell to the floor because none of the women wanted it.

(Can’t abide the garter thing.)

DH’s sister caught my bouquet. It took her 14 years, but she’s finally getting married this October. S, who was 6 at the time, caught the garter. We have a really cute photo of S trying to put the garter on his butt!
