Who DIED from having a FEAR of something?

I have lost hope. Anyone have any examples of great leaders that have died due to fear…? Fear of anything. Any responses are welcome, even if they don’t exactly answer the question directly.

Hitler killed himself cuz he was scared of being caught…

Thank you that’s an amazing example! I’m kind of scared to write his name in my application. lol but i may have to settle for him.

Lol do I detect a hint of sarcasm?

No lol… I swear! Because I was looking for a leader and that really is the perfect example… haha sorry if it sounded sarcastic. Now that I think about it though, I may have to think of another person because they will think I’m a freak if I mention hitler. But I am mentioning him in a negative light…hmmm.

Haha okay. Well nonetheless he was a great leader. At least before he went crazy.

Other than that I dunno who else died of a fear…

True he was a great leader, despite being on the err wrong end of things… Looks like I’m using Hitler lol… Unless someone else can think of a slightly less creepy example lol.

I would not use Hitler in a college entrance essay, it’s not a positive way to go. Can you use another analogy?

i dont think using hitler is a bad idea, its fitting and if you portray him in a negative light its not going to make you look crazy.

Do they have to be historic leaders?

You might make the argument for Macbeth… that’s more of a guilt and paranoia thing than straight fear, but it could work.

And I’ll bet you could find at least a couple of examples in Greek mythology.

Sorry if this is off base, it’s almost 3 am and I’m a little sleep depreived, but Romeo and Juliet killing themselves out of fear of not having each other, maybe?

^ nah, it was miscommunication.

Historical bias at its best.

If you think something is negative, don’t slant your tone; find the things in history that indicate bad and good, and weigh them intelligently to see what you get.

As for leaders who died because of fear: Macbeth, as geek_mom suggested, is a good example. There were US presidents assassinated: McKinley killed by Leon Czolgosz, who claimed representation of the suffering workers of America. That’s a fear of oppression.

Granted, the majority of my general knowledge of assassins comes from Stephen Sondheim. So you might want to do your own research, too. =)

Agreed Wisteria. Hitler was a great man. The only reason he was portrayed in a negative light is because his country starved, his officers turned on him, he killed 12 million people, was a terrible military strategist, oh wait. (sarcasm) Honestly, there is historical bias, but there is no denying that Hitler was a poor leader. If he was a good leader, nazi germany would’ve been a more successful experiment.

Sorry, I just can’t stand when people throw out the historical bias thing either because they want to be “edgy” or because they think HItler was a good leader.

Eeeeeh… he had that whole socialism thing working against him too. But I suppose that “if he’d been a good leader” could cover a multitude of conditions.

I agree with Titan otherwise: Hitler was a master manipulator and an evil, twisted man – and it’s a blessing that he wasn’t more competent as a “leader.”
