Who doesn't have the 6th tab?

For people who don’t have the tab: do you think you have a realistic chance of getting in? Do you mind briefly sharing your stats, date you applied, and your approximate geographic location?

p.s. If you don’t know what the 6th tab means, log onto your Agora account, and you should see a menu with either five or six boxes (that say “Application Status”, “Fin aid status”, et cetera). Apparently 6 tabs = in, and 5 = waitlisted/rejected/no decision yet.

Good ECs & essay
Amazing recommendations

I sent my common app the day it was due (like I did for all my colleges :P) to Arts & Sciences. & I live in New York.

Honestly, I thought I had a fairly good chance, especially after I got my NYU acceptance last week. But now, I really don’t know. Maybe 50% of getting in?

I don’t have it, and it makes me so sad.

4.3 W, 3.9 UW GPA
680 V, 670 M, 650 W : 2000 SAT
Tons of volunteering, awesome essay and recommendations.
Our school doesn’t rank, but they still secretly do. I’m 2/287.

I really thought I could get in here. ): I feel so disheartened.

Not entirely sure, but GPA is probably around 3.65 UW, 3.8 W (4 AP’s senior year)
Don’t do class rank, but in a class of around 680 in a very competitive public school
750M 640CR 670W
Good, probably above average EC’s (not large amount of activities, but the amount of time for things like Marching Band are absurd)
Not enough service… (although in NHS)
Above average essay
Rec’s very personal, known 2 teachers for many years
Counselor rec. pretty good, knows me very well
Applied around 12/17

Chances? Ehh I would have liked to think I had a chance but I was probably being too optimistic with myself. Probably should have tried EA. Whatever, it was my first choice, but I always have Rutgers…

Stats:

SAT Total:1960
SAT II:Lit-710 US-620
ACT:
AP/IB taken/scores: US-4, will take Eng Lit and US Gov this year
GPA weighted:4.212
GPA unweighted: idk
Rank or % estimate:school doesnt rank
Subjective:
Essays:i wrote about an elderly woman who lived at the retirement home that ive worked at for the last 4 years and the influence she had on me…it made my counselor and everyone who read it cry (lol) and after my AP Eng teacher read it, she told me i should become a writer…lol so my essay was a strength, but of course it depends on who reads it…i also included a copy of the woman’s holy card and a note her niece sent me after she died…
Teacher Recs:one was good, the other was by the eng teacher mentioned above, so im assuming it was spectacular (i didnt see either)
Counselor Rec: he took me aside and talked to me for a good 10 mins and told me how great it was, but i never saw it…
Hook (if any):definitely my work experience…my school ecs were good, but not great…my jobs should make up for it though…ive worked as a waitress/dishwasher/hostess at a retirement home where i also volunteer as chair of the social committee since i was 14 (all throughout high school, about 20 hours a week)…ive also worked as an Aquatic Risk Superivisor full time for the last 2 summers, which basically involves running an aquatic facility and making sure all of the Safety Standards are followed rigidly…last year, i had about 20 employees (most of whom were older than me) working under me, and i had to do things such as hiring, recruitment, discipline, training, inventory, etc…also, my job has put me in charge of several life or death situations…last summer, i revived a man with CPR, had to properly care for a young girl with an open fracture (disgusting), had to deal with 2 severe spinal injuries, and saved a young boy who was choking, not to mention several surface water rescues…my job involves a tremendous amount of responsibility and is high pressure…i also have to make sure that the employees under me are able to handle these situations…i work about 70 hours a week and was on salary…i was promoted at a very young age and at the end of last summer, i was also promoted to an Aquatic Risk Manager, so this summer ill be managing an entire 60,000 sq foot aquatic facility (aka water park) by myself…this should show my work ethic and responsibility, but idk…sorry that was so long, but i wrote my short answer on it, and its definitely one of the stronger parts of my app…

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: my gpa is decent, but my scores arent that great (i was the only one out of my class of 300 to not take any prep classes) and ill graduate with only 3 APs, although several honors classes…i just hope that BC realizes that my school is very competitive and that APs and honors there are much more rigorous than at many other schools…apparantly they havent, though, since i only had 5 tabs…:(…im pretty disappointed, BC was my 2nd choice (my first was a long shot…)

Oops, I forgot to share mine

3.4 UW/ 3.9 W

Pretty solid ECs and volunteering
Essay was… hard to say. Don’t like it much now.
Recs - didn’t see them, waived the rights
applied in late October
location: Georgia

I thought I had a decent shot but my GPA is pretty low and BC is tough to get into… ah well.

You guys all have really good stats, it’s ridiculous that you haven’t gotten the tab. Seriously, this tab thing is driving me insane.

3.4 UW/4.05 W

Very good ECs and decent leadership

I always thought I had a pretty good chance, and I was accepted to Carnegie Mellon already, but BC has always been one of those schools that doesn’t look at our gpas in the right context.

3.7 UW

ACT: 31
Average: 97% ish
Region: Western NY State
Rank: top 3%
School doesn’t offer APs but by graduation I will have about 32 credits from a local community college.

No tab.

I knew BC was a reach for me but a little part of me will still refuse to believe it until I get my wonderful 1st rejection letter tomorrow.

Guys, I wouldn’t worry about it yet. I was freaking out for a little, but a lot of people apply to BC. They are doing admissions in batches, and I’m sure the tabs change dependent on when the admissions packages are finished. It’s not worth stressing out about until the letter is in your hands. Good luck to all, and relax. It’s senior yearrr

No Tab (ugh!), and I’ve already been waitlisted by WashU and Northwestern, in at NYU, Mizzou, and UW-Madison…

4.0UW, 4.62W

Great CommonApp essay, but wish BC required more on the Supplement! I felt like I couldn’t show them my voice or anything…
ACT: 29–kinda low
Recs: 1 cookie cutter, 1 great-by my english teacher, so it was good!
Major: Communications/journalism

Thought I had an okay shot since I got into NYU and waitlisted at WashU and NU, but I guess my ACT is a bit low…also don’t have amazing EC’s like most here on CC, but still a bit above average.

Good luck everyone! I really hope they just haven’t updated all the tabs yet. I will be crushed if I don’t get into BC!

No tab here.

3.71 UW GPA, 4.0+ W

Varsity lacrosse captain, plenty of volunteering, AP Scholar w/ Honor, etc.

Eh, too bad. But I’m already accepted to my first choice regardless of what happens :).

I do not have the tab and I kinda thought I had a decent chance of getting in…

extra-curriculars: outside of school I founded my own organization that involves collecting old prom dresses and then allowing girls in need to come “shop” for free, it’s been in all the local papers and we’ve collected over 400 dresses; also in national honor society, amnesty international, habitat for humanity

grrr i want this tab!

^ Are you talking about Becca’s Closet? The girl that founded that organization died when she was sixteen…

There are a lot of organizations like that, with probably a bunch of different names.

Yeah, just realized that, sorry…

rejected from Ohio, no tab
