Who else does this while reading Literature on the subject test?

I have a love-hate relationship with literature. When I love the piece that I am reading during practice tests, I get every question right. When I’m not interested in the piece that I am reading, I get more than half the questions wrong. I really want to like all the literature pieces, but I can’t. When I’m not particularly in love with a piece, I understand absolutely nothing. I have to guess all of my answers. I know. It’s bad. I’m really picky about the stuff I read. I didn’t notice that until I started preparing for the literature test. Sighhhh. With the lit test only a few days away, I can only hope the literature excerpts are stuff that I would enjoy reading.

Anyway, am I the only one who does this? And do you have any tips for me? This seems hopeless.

Me,too. I often got pretty frustrated when I read some pieces not interested to me.

The struggle is real.

I took two practice tests last weekend. One, I liked/was okay with all the passages. Scored 740. The other, I hated the first passage so much I stopped immediately. I missed 6/9 questions for that one passage alone.

I guess that, on test day, the best we can do is to at least try to convince ourselves that we really love every passage (even when they don’t make any sense whatsoever).

Ugh. I’m just glad I’m not the only one. Maybe things will be different for us when we’re actually taking the test? Hopefully.
