I always thought Stanford was an Ivy League school. I just found out (about 2 minutes ago) that it isn’t.

The same misconception seems to be true of Duke as well.

Wikipedia always helps a lot here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivy_League

:)

yeah i used to think stanford and duke were ivy leagues.

Everyone thinks that Stanford is in the Ivy League, but it isn’t. It’s very far away from it.

I have always known that Stanford is in the [Pac 10](http://www.pac-10.org/). Everyone should know that, even people like me who live in [Big Ten](http://bigten.cstv.com/) country.

I never thought Stanford was Ivy League. When I was younger I knew Ivy League as HYPPenn and some other small ones in the northeast (couldn’t name the others).

The Ivy League actually asked Duke to join but they refused since it was a hassle to travel up north (a rep from Columbia told me).

Lmao…

I totally once thought so, too. I also thought MIT was.

MIT and Stanford do cooperate with the actual Ivy League colleges in several areas of mutual concern.
