Does legacy only apply to students whose parents were undergrads at the school they want to attend?

I am planning on applying to Columbia college early. My dad is a director of a small center in their research/medical department. Just wondering if that will help me in the admissions process?

A little bit I suppose, probably better yields on kids of school staff.

Or, if your dad’s pretty influential, then more.

Living near Stanford, the word on the street is if you have parents that work for Stanford University you get a slight bump in the opportunity to attend Stanford. But even if you don’t go to Stanford they give you money towards another university education.

But your dad would know the perks of his job.
