who got a scholarship with the lowest SAT?

i think i’m in the running with a 2080. i applied to viterbi and had a 640 in math, too haha.

What scholarship?

presidential or trustee

You must have had some amazing academics and ECs  2040 is still pretty good though…congrats!

Holy moly! Congrats! Do you have any hooks like URM or a challenged life?

middle class white male with no hardships. i wrote a good essay and i’m highly involved. as a side note, to all of those applying next year, find something to get into besides clubs. i’ve never been a member of a single club because i’ve found more involved and unique ways to make myself stand out. clubs are great, but there are so many more interesting (for you and for your resume) things to do!

also, do what interests you and do it all out. a smattering of every club on campus on your resume says that you did alot, but it says nothing about you as a person.

oo i win! i got 1190 on my SAT :-D

oh but… that was in middle school… and out of 1600 :-p

havent taken the SAT in like 4 years so, yeah.

I think I beat all right now out of the 2400 range-- I got a 1950, and the second time I took it, my score dropped 20 points. I’m up for a Presidential.

^^^What was your strength/hook?

^^^that’s hard to say. I think it was the combination of everything (summer camps, essays, recs) , especially since I wanted something so specialized that I knew USC is the only school that could give it to me: a double-major in Cinema-Television Production and Archaeology. Plus, i think taking the ACT helped (30).

What a crazy double-major :p

What are you planning on doing after university?

I want to make archaeology documentaries as well as feature films

Yes, crazy, but awesome! I love archaeology and film too. :)

I think, though, that if I’m going to USC, something like that won’t be seen as crazy-- that’s why USC’s my number one…people double and triple major in this kind of stuff all the time! I mean, you’ve heard of that guy that majored in engineering and minored in operatic studies or something like that right?
Plus, at my school, one of the star members of our varsity math team is getting a full ride to Alabama for football-- where I come from, stuff like this is just normal.

I’m glad to see that test scores aren’t the major focus a USC…

well, SAT I’s may not be a major focus… but if you have an 1800/2400, you’d better have a 4.0 unweighted GPA or some special niche to balance that score out lol

wecandothis-

as they shouldn’t be a major focus at ANY university…they are overrated and too objective. and by too objective, i mean they don’t take into account character, initiative, integrity, and perserverance. sorry, just my take.

um, not sure you need to apologize for that viewpoint, as I am in full agreement with you.
I was sincerely stating that I’m glad to see that at USC they aren’t only going “by the numbers”. I find that impressive. I don’t think it’s always the case elsewhere though, unfortunately.
Anyhow, good luck to you.

Ha I just find it a little annoying when people say “oh you must have this such-and-such SAT and these such-and-such grades” when clearly I have neither the SAT score nor the stellar grades (I don’t have all A’s and I almost failed a class last year) that many people on this board think are what USC is looking for, and I’ve already been accepted and am up for a presidential scholarship…

…okay, I’ll get off my pedestal now. Thanks.

wow congratulations hillyrae… thats awesome

what kind of summer camps did you do
