what the ?

does anyone have legacies for the schools they are appling to?

for college i have three at vassar and 2 at harvard

why did my post go above clz’s?

cornell and penn…deferred by cornell ED…

clitch most likely

I have a legacy at a prep school where my dad lives. I might apply there if I don’t get into the prep where I am now.

what prep schools ?

what prep schools are you applying to?

no. =/ I wish I did.

I am a legacy at the University of Florida and Clemson University.

I am a legacy at u-mass.

not so cool. haha.

I’m one at chinese university of hong kong…both my parents as well as a few aunts and uncles went there…but i probably wont go back to hong kong for university. I want to go to business school, not sure which one

I have no legacy…i mean for prep schools. But I do for NYU

Prep schools: Milton (aunt) and Concord (uncle).
Colleges/Universites: triple-legacy at Harvard, plus my grandfather teaches and works there, double-legacy at Cal (though they don’t use legacy as an admissions factor), Sarah Lawrence, Reed, Columbia, St. Andrew’s, Welsyan, Tufts, and Princeton (sort of–long story).
The only ones that could really matter would be Harvard, Sarah Lawrence, and maybe Tufts.

I heard that universities only count legacies as parents and grandparents.

If you count aunt and uncles as well:

I’m a legacy at University of Ottawa, Carleton University (ON), McGill, University of Toronto, Ashbury College (prep school), Upper Canada College (prep school), etc.

only parents and grandparents and great parents …anything vertical

and also…most only count undergrad

Oh well mines vertical…and I also have a horizontal way haha…(NYU)

Even if they say they only count undergrad, it can’t hurt (at least at the private schools) to have a parent or grandparent who was a grad student or professor there—especially if that parent or grandparent has a history of donating money.

Yes, most do only count parents and gradparents–that’s why I said only Harvard, Sarah Lawrence, and Tufts would really matter. Honestly, I think Harvard’s the only one where it could have any real influence on my admissions chances, which certainly isn’t that bad.
