Who has a Pebble Tec surface wimming pool?

OK …this might not generate much interest. But who has a Pebble Tec Surface swimming pool and how do you like it?

How is it keeping up? Was it a remodel? How hard is it to take care of? Does it stain? Do the colors fade?

Don’t know about the surface.
Just wanted to mention…I wuv wimming.

lol…

I have Pebble Tec on my old 1950s era kidney-shaped pool. We did a remodel that included a plaster resurfacing of the pool but the plaster didn’t dry right or something and almost immediately it started to bubble up and stain from the rebar underneath. The contractor who did the plaster had gone out of business but amazingly enough, we were able to get our money back and we used that to apply to the Pebble Tec job. We chose a medium color that makes the water look blue and I think the surface is actually called Pebble Sheen or something like that as the pebbles are quite small. It’s probably been about 4 years now and it’s holding up wonderfully. No change to the color and we don’t do anything special to take care of it. We’re very happy with it.

Cool. How much more did the pebbletec cost compared to the plaster? 10% more? 20% more? Way more?

I’m so sorry but I don’t remember the exact difference. I know it was significantly more which is why we first decided to go with plaster.

Okay, checked with the hubby who says that we had it done more like 6 years ago and that maybe it cost $4,000 to $5,000 more. But he says he doesn’t really remember either. It was a lot but after the scary bubbling plaster it seemed like such a good idea and it still looks perfect today.

Ok thanks…

Now I won’t be so shocked when I see the bids. :)

PebbleTec is one of the best surfaces you can put on the pool. There are several grades available and one of the differentiators is the shade or color availability as well as the amount of texture/pebbles in the grade.

It is very low maintenance and gives your pool a nice non slip surface while the colors look terrific both during the day and at night when lit.

Thanks eadad.
