Things to note:
Student 2 is more of a straight A+ type of student whereas Student 1 is more of a straight A- type student.
Student 1 does Cross Country and Track while Student 2 only does Track.
Student 2 is on the Academic Team whereas Student 1 is not.
Student 2 has higher SAT/ACT scores.
-Ex. Student 1 earned a 690 Math II the first time and Student 2 earned a 780 the first time. Student 1 superscored to 760.
Student 1 has more volunteering and more filled summers.
Both are fighting to be NHS President (lol)
Student 2 tends to make better relationships with teachers (Best student in AP Biology’s teacher’s career, ranked #1 in every math class).
Student 1 is more social among her peers and is “more popular.”

Backgrounds:
Student 1 is from a wealthier family and has lived in California all her life, although she travels. Her family is close-knit with two older siblings.
Student 2 lived in England for the first 9 years of her life and then moved to Virginia for 2 years, and then California for the remaining 6 years. Her parents are divorced and she visits her Dad every summer.

For your own sake, you might want to learn how to use “whose” vs. “who’s”, as well as the proper usage of articles and personal/ object pronouns. Then you can ask who’s stronger.

Can’t think of an area where student 1 would have an advantage over student 2 in admissions. But student 2 seems to have better grades, test scores, and ECs. Although you’re both extremely competitive and close, student 2 has a stronger resume. The essay could swing things though.

You say student 1 has “more volunteering and more filled summers”… Does this mean that student 2 doesn’t have many? How involved is each student?
If student 2 isn’t really involved, I’d say student 1 has a better chance. In the end, both have a great chance.

This is ridiculous. And pointless.

“Big whoop?”

Therein lies the problem. It is a “big whoop”. Along with the pettiness of the challenge. Hope OP’s friend doesn’t know what she’s up to.

Student 2, but what Student 2 did during their summers and their essay could turn it around easily.

Does your school go directly from algebra 2 to ap calc ab?

Is the reason for the post that the two students are applying to the same college?

Even if they are, there’s no reason to assume that their apps would be considered in relation to each other (assuming the OP and friend are from the same high school). Concern over a friend’s app is certainly no reason not to apply to a college. So many other factors are involved in a college’s decisions.

And I advised the OP to be concerned about grammar because it IS important to be able to put a sentence together, like it or not. I understand the standards are relaxed somewhat on sites like this, but still…

Student 2. But do you really need to do this? It doesn’t sound like a very nice competition.

yea i would say student 2, mainly because colleges care most about gpa and test scores, in which student 2 has better stats

Okay by more filled summers I mean…

Fresh to Soph
Student 1 volunteered with disabled kids
Student 2 visited her Dad for the whole summer

Soph to Junior
Student 1 did the rotary Exchange where she had an Italian girl stay with her for 3 weeks and then went over there for 3 weeks. She also built a trail in Alaska.
Student 2 was a Gallery Facilitator at the Rhfleet Science Center and when she went to England, she interned at her Dad’s hospital.

Junior to Soph
Student 1 interned at this Biotech corporation
Student 2 interned at LSSI

And thank you all for the lovely answers! :)

Also, its worth mentioning that Student 1 was Class Vice President in freshman year. And this isn’t a rivalry, we are actually best friends! Haha

You guys are both remarkable. It all depends on the essays and teacher recs at this point.

Gpa? Test scores? Needs to be more specific information. Can’t tell which is better.
