I think you’re right. Hopefully it doesn’t mean anything

@kelryry I’m transferring if I don’t get in too!!!

omgomg, im starting to think I got rejected. Like, why haven’t I gotten ANYTHING from NYU yet? I applied CAS, and a lot of other people on this thread are already getting things…

same heree
i applied to steihnhardt for communications
and i am FREAKING out right now…becuas ei know my stats arent as good…
but then again, i think im the onlly person who did steinhardt for ed in our school
is that any help?

how much does participating in the tisch summer program help your chances?

Guys… you’ve really got to calm down. Not getting a NYU newsletter or two does NOT mean you’re rejected. For a school that has such a small endowment, I would think that they would use that money for more practical things… rather than printing a whole bunch of brochures. Deep breath in… deep breath out.

Yeah, people calm down… There are still more days for us to wait, so just be calm, listen to some music ,get good sleeps , and everyone will be fine… :)

This newsletter thing is stupid. I’ve honestly gotten mail from NYU 1-3 times a month every month since June/ July.

We all get tons of spam emails from random colleges about diversity, programs, special applications bla bla bla…it means nothing. Like I have gotten stuff from brown and Columbia and I am no where near Ivy level.

@meow–I heard it helps a lot. May be wrong, but I heard 2/3 of the people who go to the summer program get accepted. It def helps 1-show interst in nyu, 2-show passion/dedication, 3-helps you make a portfolio 4-tisch profesors can write you recs etc

@jjohn42 & meow…
I don’t know if teachers would write you recs, but you do get graded which is something. I hear a lot of people say that it is not a guaranteed in and others say it is. I think it helps if you did program, it depends also on how well you did…because I doubt they would just take someone who did the program and got like 3 C’s in their courses. Ya know? They would want the kids who showed they could grow and handle the work.

Does anyone else know how much it helps?

I’ve heard differently John. I’ve heard that it really doesn’t make much of a difference, all it does is show your interest, but it really doesn’t change anything in the end. In fact, I know many people who did the Tisch Summer Program and all were rejected. :(

I’ve seen bunch of people on CC who got recs from NYU professors after doing the summer program. If it actually gives you an advantage, we’ll never know for sure. But, you have to take into account the fact that you do need to get accepted into the summer programs, so they had to have seen something in you the first time around. If you do well in the courses, and then submit your transcript from the program with your undergrad app, they have to say something like “oh, jane doe did very well in our summer classes, she probably can handle our school”–assuming you are qualified in other areas too.

I had a graduate professor from Tisch write a rec for me.

oh well there ya go :D

Now that’s definitely a good thing, but in the end, I don’t think it’s a big factor. lol :)

i wish i could have taken a tisch summer class if i didnt live hundreds of miles away and i had $8,000 to spend on it

I applied ED and the wait is killing me.
KILLING ME, I SAY.

Someone who attends NYU told me that decisions are already made for the most part, and will be delivered Dec 15 via e-mail, acceptances being sooner than rejections

One week from tomorrow you guys, we can do this!! :)

I didn’t go to any summer program AT NYU.
I met him via a different program.
Here’s what he said when I asked him about it:
"I was specific for NYU. I figured talking about working there, etc would help you a bit. "
