Who here has not gotten COVID? Who has long COVID?

Senator Cassidy (who cast the deciding vote in committee in favor of brain-worm guy) has said that the ACIP meeting should be postponed, so we’ll see.

That’s interesting. I tried a couple of IL zip codes and appointments came up. How did you answer the questions on when you had your last vaccine and underlying conditions?

I wasn’t even prompted for those questions once I entered my birthday.

That’s odd. I get one or both questions after I put in my birthday (I have put in both my real year and a fake one to see how being over or under 65 affects it). I am not logged in to my CVS account and I did not put my cell number in, so if you are doing one of those things perhaps that is triggering a different response from the website. I was getting a notice that COVID vaccines weren’t available until a couple of days ago.

Yay—in our state of HI, all insurers are covering COVID vaxes for everyone over 6 months of age!

I’m hoping this as well. We’re in IL and like you, CVS and Walgreens websites would not allow me to schedule a COVID vaccination bc I did not “qualify.” My H was able to at CVS and Walgreens even though he’s not 65. Though he did check off for one of the medical conditions. He will go to CVS and see what will happen. I’ll report back on his experience.

I have accounts at both Walgreens and CVS and did enter my cell phone number so maybe that’s why. I’m planning on going in person and talking to them.

My state has formed a health alliance with 2 other states. This alliance will soon issue their own recommendations regarding COVID vaccinations, likely expanding eligibility for those who can receive the vaccine.

If one is able to get COVID-19 vaccine, will the Moderna offering be Spikevax or mNEXSPIKE?

The latter is a newer version that targets only the part of the spike protein that mutates, and uses a smaller amount (1/5 as much) of mRNA. It is supposed to be slightly more effective with slightly less unwanted effects.

DH and I both got our Spikemax vaccines in July, with the hopes that we can get the newer Moderna vaccine at the end of the year. Hope they have it.

I went to Safeway pharmacy yesterday and got the Spikevax but asked the pharmacist about the mNexspike. They had no knowledge of it.

Stopped into my local CVS this morning and got good news that their system is just overwhelmed by people trying to schedule the vaccine but that they are available for anyone who wants them! They have open walk-in hours Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

I’m going to wait a couple of months before I get my next Covid vaccine since I just had Covid a couple of weeks ago. I will get my flu shot by the end of this month since D1 is due with our first grandchild 10/14.

We had COVID boosters in late May just before a cruise (we didn’t get sick, yay!) and our MD suggested we get the new vaccine in Oct/Nov. By then we expect that the logjam for appointments will have subsided.

Governor of MA announced vaccines will be available to all who want them, and BCBS of MA is on board, as they’d rather pay for a vaccine than a hospitalization.

I guess this notice today. Statement from the Virginia Department of Health Regarding the 2025-26 COVID-19 Vaccine – Virginia Department of Health

Clear as mud to me. Best I can tell, right now nobody can get the updated shot until after the new one is approved for whatever age groups/people classifications. And even then I would need a prescription? But I don’t have a PCP and am not going to pay $150 to to go a doctor to get one. So unless I can convince my OB-GYN to do it, then I’m out of luck. I’m early-mid 50s with no health conditions. And even then it doesn’t address the issue of insurance.

Do I have that right?

And as irritated as I am over this, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. What I will be super irritated with, is if they start restricting the flu shot like covid. I was going to get the covid/flu shots in late October/early November. I hope they have this fixed by then.

Ok—spoke with the front desk at radiation & she said go ahead and get all shots, no limitations. We just got our moderna MNEXSPIKE 2025-26. Next weekend will be busy and we want H to have the weekend to recover before Monday treatments. We are concerned that the current vaccine may disappear or become hard to get, especially after a meeting to be held 9/18.
