Who here has not gotten COVID? Who has long COVID?

I am in nyc, Covid vaccine is not available right now, but it’s available at Jersey city. I want my mom to get the new one before she goes on her cruise end of September. This is for CVS.

I just made an appt for my mom at Walgreens. They require a prescription, but not clear if it is for the new vaccine. Will call later to confirm.

@MADad - are you a MA resident? The independent pharmacies in my MA town plan to get the COVID vaccine - maybe for you too?

Yes I am, but cannot think of an indie pharmacy nearby—-CVS and Walgreens are on almost every street corner, it seems, the 1000 pound gorilla of pharmacies.

Isn’t it a state law that is preventing CVS from dispensing COVID vaccines? If so, wouldn’t that also affect the independents? Strangely, CVS Minute Clinics WILL be able to vaccinate, as they are governed by different laws (Minute Clinic is similar to an Urgent Care in some ways)

While true, there are also Walmart, Costco, and some grocery stores that have their own pharmacies that you can try.

I thought MA was one of the states that require CDC approval of the new vaccine. The CDC is a mess right now and not sure the meeting where approval happens is going to happen as planned.

Not anymore, they can’t (self-certify)

ACIP meeting was supposed to be Sept 18-19. Sen Bill Cassidy, the very man who could have stopped RKF Jr but chose to trust him instead, has called for that meeting to be indefinitely postponed.

per the NYT article, one can likely self-certify in 34 states. The other 16 have different laws/regs.

I take this normally as part of my allergy protective regimen, plus I still use Enovid when I am unmasked in public indoors and also continue to mask indoors when not eating or drinking. It seems to be working pretty well, as I have only gotten COVID once, when we were at a prolonged, very crowded indoor 80th birthday party and everyone on our table got COVID!

Where are you getting Enovid? I will need to get more in a few months.

Most recently I bought it at reekooz.com. If you want to email them, it’s focus@reekooz.com. It’s been rebranded as “NoWonder.” When I got it I paid $37/bottle because I bought the max they allowed (10 bottles).

Has anyone had any side effects using Enovid? I have never used and thinking about trying ahead of a trip but got a bit nervous reading about the potential (rare?) side effects. TIA!

Neither I nor H have had any side effects from covid, nor as our PT who had used it even more than us.

How did your PT “use” COVID?

I believe she is talking about using Enovid (and not having side effects).

Sorry, I meant she and her family and I and my family use the nasal spray to AVOID covid. When any of us feel some virus or “bug” may be “coming on,” we immediately spray each nostril, up to 5x until things return to “normal.” My PT, I and my H swear it has helped us avoid the infections we hare exposed to, even traveling and catching NYC subways & trains (tho we mask indoors except while eating/drinking) too.

I mentioned earlier that I live in a state where CVS cannot give any COVID vaccine but live very close to a state that does. Just for kicks I went to the CVS website and pretended to register for a COVID vaccine. It showed me openings in the adjacent state, less than 5 miles from home.

I guess when I’m ready for my next one (October) if things haven’t sorted themselves out, I will go that route.

assuming ACIP meets and approves vax in two weeks, your state may ok. In the meantime, why not ask your state reps why 34 other states have a different policy

My DiL and S2 live near Philly, and they have been able to schedule COVID shots for next week, although they are skeptical about it actually happening. In most of the rest of the state, there is no supply to be offered. Time will tell.

@MADad everyone in MA should have access to a Covid vaccine soon

Hopefully IL is next. I was unable to schedule a vaccine at CVS.
