2150 (740 CR, 680 Math, 730 W)
even though there is room for improvement, especially in math, i’m not sure whether or not the other two would go up or even stay the same

looks like i can put away all these SAT study books! hooray!

I got a 2190 (800CR 720M 670V) and I’m not totally satisfied, but I probably won’t take it again because it is a decent score. I also have a 1510 on the old one which some schools I’m looking at said they would take under consideration.

I have a question. Would colleges prefer someone that got a 700v 800m 800w on their first try to some one who got:
700V 650m 750w on their first try and
650V 800m 800V on their second try?

People have told me that colleges only look at you best score from each section, which would mean both people have a 2300. But it doesn’t seem believable that the second candidate would be held in the same regard as the first.

I’m pretty sure that I am done… 2280 (690 - CR, 790 - M, 800 - W). Unless, as somebody stated earlier, someone thinks that it might be “bad” to have such a large discrepancy between two scores compared to the other.

I am also done. 2,240 I got 700M, 800 Crit Read., and 740 Writ (73 subscore and 10 essay). This is a 1,500 in just Math and Verbal; also 740 is not a bad writing score. I would have to work my butt off to bring up Math. At this point, I am going to concentrate on AP Chem and several SAT II’s. You have to prioritize your time. Someone else e-mailed me and gave me this great advice. I thnk he was from California and he also had 2,240. To scrouge for a few more points is not going to make the difference in college admissions. They said rule of thumb is over 2,250 don’t retake. Also, I am 10 points from that so am hoping an 800 in Crit Rdg. will make that small difference. I am going to concentrate on SAT II’s. I am convinced that I will get admission to one of the Ivies at least. Which one is in God’s hands, not mine. I am done worrying about it. DONE WITH SAT 1’s!!! I also saw some admission statistics that said of the 17,000 applicants to Harvard, only about 3,000+ had 800’s in Verbal so although there is a proliferation of people on this website with 2,300+, I really don’t think there are that many people with 800’s applying to all of these schools, so time to move on to my EC’s and recommendations etc.

I’m thinking of being done… or maybe not. Right now:

740 CR (arghh… 5 mistakes and all of 'em on CR)
800 M
800 V (80-12)

=2340.

I know I’m capable of more on verbal, but I don’t really feel like taking it again. If I decide to apply to the top schools, I might retake, but likely not, so I’d be done.
