As you might have figured, I had one bad year in 9th grade, so lets just say I am hoping to get into a school that does not consider them or factor them in. I know Michigan does not, anyone else know of other schools that do not either? Thanks.

From what I’ve found, most top schools don’t use 9th grade to factor into your GPA, but they do look at it. If there’s an upward trend, it may look favorably upon you.

Stanford, Pomona, all UCs

There are several schools, such as those already mentioned (I believe Princeton as well) that don’t use Freshman GPA. However, ALL schools look favorably upon an upward trend, so I would suggest not limiting yourself only to schools that totally discount Freshman grades. If the rest of your app is excellent, bad freshman grades probably won’t kill you anywhere.
