Who is looking forward to the Winter Olympics? What will you be watching?

I am really looking forward to the Olympics. I love the ice skating, both figure and speed. I also enjoy the skiing.

I love the winter olympics too. Snowboarding events are fun and exciting, bobsledding, skating, skiing. I always try to watch a bit of curling. Ski jump, amazing. I’m interested to see if skimo is actually worth watching.

Raining on your parade… I used to love the Winter Olympics but the damage done to the mountains just to host them, in particular the removal of hundred years old firs, which we need to absorb carbon dioxide as many trees have died from the heat waves (due to climate change) and their role in preventing mudslides, whole pieces of the mountains falling onto houses or covering an entire village … I just can’t. For 2 weeks of spectator sports we may have caused irreversible damage that will lead to destruction and deaths. When I was in Milan last summer, and also as I went up to the Lakes where there were lots of road works and railway works to ensure everything would be up to date (which is good for Italians for sure), some places that were supposed to be reused couldn’t be so had to be torn down and replaced, it was heartbreaking because it’s so futile ultimately, and the Alps are necessary for our survival. (I’m actually hoping the 2030 Games won’t go through, they’re also in the Alps, because I don’t know if the mountains can survive that twice.)

At least we know that :ice_hockey: hockey is going to have tons of viewers.:joy:

Definitely the quad god. He got his start nearby and a teacher (reading specialist) friend of mine used to escort him out a bit early each day in elementary school to meet his dad to go to skating practice. Well, I’d watch him anyway, LOL.
There is a young lady also from nearby in skeleton.

Honestly, there are so many awesome sports to look forward to watching. I am hoping that between all of the stations, I will be able to see sports (rather than just hearing human interest stuff that doesn’t interest me). I even like watching curling. And I tried luge a couple years ago … what a sport (scary!).
