<p>Hello everyone. Here is my dilemma:</p>
<p>I am applying for a scholarship and I need one recommendation. I only have two people who got back to me: my biology professor for two classes in college and my high school math teacher. Keep in mind I am an Econ major. </p>
<p>My high school math teacher knows me well and even graduated from the college I am trying to get the scholarship from. I can count on a very personal recommendation from him. My biology professor only knows me from my weekly attendance to her office hours and my high grades in her classes. She definitely likes me, but I think her recommendation won’t be as strong as my math teacher. </p>
<p>Which recommendation would be best?</p>
<p>I am sure you have thought of this before, but why are you not asking your Econ teacher for the recommendation? </p>
<p>If I were to choose between the two, I would pick the Biology professor. You are applying as a college transfer, so I think even though the Bio professor may give a weaker recommendation, the UC’s rather have college recommendation than highschool recommendation. Your bio professor is going to give a description of the more recent you, versus your math teacher’s memories and impression of you from highschool.</p>

Scholarship committee is not admission committee. Math is closer related to econ than bio.</p>

<p>Lakerforever24, I believe CaliTrumpet’s question is in regards to a scholarship application, not UC Admissions or a UC-sponsored scholarship.</p>

<p>^because I am a UC transfer applying for a scholarship only offered to UC transfers.</p>
<p>Thanks everyone very much for the input. I decided to go with the math teacher because he knows me on more of a personal level and would include this in his recommendation.</p>

<p>Good choice, Cali Trumpet. Since this is in regards to a scholarship, I think it is best to have someone who knows you the best on a personal level write a letter of recommendation.</p>
