Who Killed Hurricanes?

Anyone notice what a peaceful summer it has been for hurricanes? No Katrina, Andrew, Ike, Wilma. They have all stayed away this year. I must say I am very glad since I hate to see people crying when they lose everything they own.

Makes my job a lot easier, when we can work on repairing all the damage in an off-year. Lots of calm and peace where we can do tons of mitigation work to prevent future damage…? Fine by me!

I agree, razorsharp, it hasn’t been to bad this year.

Over at the other side of the Pacific, the Philippines had it really bad this past weekend. This was a thread that I had just created.

Ah, geez, Razorsharp, I hope you didn’t jinx it! Down here in south Florida we never say anything like that - it might upset the gods!

Another NOAA prediction in the crapper. They had predicted 75% chance of average to above average activity in May. Oh well. We still got that warming thing NAILED!

There’s a randomness to life that the pundits have a hard time with. Sometimes its a low season, sometimes its a high season, and its tougher to predict than people would like. You could still have a tough October. We’ll see.

this is an interesting weather blog- especially for those in the Northwest.
