Who loves their Amazon mattress purchase?

I am hoping to point DD in the right direction for a good, supportive mattress ordered from Amazon. She thinks she would like a memory foam mattress. Given that my menopausal body thinks that sounds like hell (I run so hot these days), I am not helpful. Any ideas? We’ve been perusing Amazon, and end up more confused than ever after reading the reviews! TIA!

We love our Tempur-Pedic, but everybody’s taste differs. We visited quite a few stores and tried out a lot of beds before we decided.

I love being able to roll over without the bed moving a lot! I rest much better since I don’t have to worry about waking DH up when I roll over.

I just both get 2 Beautyreat black ice memory foam mattresses. Since I live in SE Fl, the coolness of the layers was a selling feature.

I have two of these and have recommended it to my sister, who also loves it.

Tempurpedic family here too. We love everything about it.

Shellz, what’s her stage of life and is this meant to be a long term mattress or just for some while? On the lower priced side I got a bed in a box (via Amazon) for the guest room and adore it. It’s not memory foam but I’d describe it as very plush top on a firmer underbase. The closest way I can describe it is like having a good foam topper.

You’re right, the issue I ran into on Amazon was the reviews. Some people complain it’s too firm, others, not firm enough. It runs the gamut. I really think you need to explore mattress showrooms to decide what basics she likes. I like firm, so wasn’t put off by those remarks.

But alas, MaineLonghorn, there’s a Tempur-Pedic at our summer rental and it’s not for me. I find it hard to move around. Mattresses are such a personal preference thing.

We got a memory foam mattress at Ikea and it is the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. I am always hot (have been all my life) and I have no problem with the mattress being hot. My husband loves it too. Don’t know about Amazon mattresses but I can certainly recommend Ikea memory foam. (Maybe all memory foam mattresses are similar.)

Here’s an interesting review site http://www.sleeplikethedead.com/ Another is AllAboutBedroom. For non-major brands, you sometimes have to know the name of the parent company.

My 22 yo son just bought this memory foam mattress from Amazon and is happy with it so far. I think it’s a good deal compared to the pricy Tempurpedic, and as a starter mattress is probably better than some innerspring mattresses at the same price point. Of course, he’s comparing it to the dorm mattresses that he’s been sleeping on for the last five years. Oh, and Amazon accidentally sent him two, so his roommate decided to replace her old innerspring mattress with this one and is also quite happy!

Thanks guys! @lookingforward my DD may only be here for a year, but is 25 and tired of the crappy dorm style mattresses she’s slept on up until this past June. We’d love for her to get a good night’s sleep, but not break the bank or feel badly if she needs to leave it behind in a year either.

The input about the memory black memory foam gel is intriguing @bookworm ! Gotta check that out for me.
IKEA was an option I hadn’t thought of. I’m going to suggest to DD that we go check today during our play day in the city! Shopping is definitely playing!

My daughter purchased a Brooklyn Bedding mattress for her first post-graduation apartment. It’s only been 3 weeks, but she really likes it.

There are a lot of reviews online and a 120 night full return policy.

@shellz

Look at overstock.com also. They have mattresses, and shipping is cheap!

I purchased a few mattresses from Brooklyn Bedding for a vacation home. I found the site after reading reviews on sleeplikethedead.com. They have different types and firmness levels. I’m pretty happy with them. I do tend to sleep hot and had to purchase a wool mattress pad to help with that, but nobody else seems to have an issue.

We got memory foam bed in a box from Tuft and Needle…under $500 I believe…and we like it a lot. I am also hot at night and this is supposed to help.

My kids say this is the best mattress they have ever slept on. All their college friends have ordered it too when they have needed a mattress. Great reviews and great price. Free shipping too.

It is so individual–foam makes me feel like I am burning and I have to have multiple layers between me and the foam. H claims he is fine but I notice he always baos on my side of the bed that has all the haters of bedding keeping it cool.

DS got a memory foam mattress from Amazon ($2-300). It was “fine” and affordable. No need for an expensive one since he moved out of the country 2 years later. Since it was 3 years ago, I don’t recall which it was. We want the kids to be mobile and typically, young folks can sleep fine on a less than perfect mattress. DD is sleeping on a hand me down I never liked. This is also “fine” for her.

Thank you all. I passed on all the comments to my DD, and she quipped, is there anything that the CC Hive mind doesn’t know? Lol, I told her it was unlikely! So, she ended up going with Brooklyn Bedding, and an IKEA bedframe. I would love to be a fly on the wall when she opens up that box and sees all those parts and instructions! Lol. But assembling your own stuff is a rite of passage, and she’s a pretty sharp cookie. Thanks again, peeps!

Am hoping I can post tomorrow. D has a single mattress that is fairly new, but I always thought was too wobbly. It’s giving her fits and back pain since she returned a week ago from her internship. The thought of mattress shopping gives me fits. I always end up buying the most expensive one at Sam’s and calling it a day. Regardless, they sink too quickly in the middle, even though H and I together weigh 275 lbs.

So…we bought D a well rated, firm, inner-spring coil one from Amazon. Should arrive tomorrow. We’ll see to it goes
