who makes it where?!?!?!?!

im a rising high school senior, and its time for applications. My mom says that more children from private schools make it to med schools than kids from public schools because she claims that it is harder to get a high gpa in a public vs a private. Right now im debating whether to go to a UC (probably SD) or to Pamona. What should i do and are these rumors true…also is there a place online where i can find statistics showing me how many college seniors made it to med school from each university. THanks

The rumors are true.

As far as a place online where you can find statistics showing the premed placements of each university, hey, I’d love to find that myself. Most schools, especially the top ones, deliberately hide that information such that you actually have to physically go to a special office at that school, and often times, you aren’t even allowed into that office unless you’re a student at that school.

However, here are some stats that you may find relevant:

thanks sakky

anyone else with info on top bio schools like UCSD

heard its crzy there trying to get GPAs and only like 10-20 kids go to med school after undergrad

Thanks

Well, no, I don’t think it’s THAT intense. I would suspect there to be more than that. But you should go ask UCSD.

Nevertheless, you should bear in mind how many not only how many people get admitted who actually apply, but also how many people apply in the first place, relative to how many come in as freshman wanting to become doctors. Plenty of people get such bad grades that they don’t even apply because they know they won’t get in.

aaha im staying FAAAR away from this bad boy. Bad memories, bad experiences.

I dont agree, i think wherever you go you are fine as long as you have the application of a champ when the time comes. BUT THIS IS MY OPINION!

That plus there are some state schools that i know of where banging out an A would be sooo easy. Then there are some i can think of where its hard. Same with private universities. So idk how this generalization can be made.

BUT AGAIN MY OPINION. I dont wanna fight about it.

lol doogie I made the same conclusion
