Who Should Send My Recommendation Letter?

I’m planning to apply for the JSA Summer Program at Georgetown and I’m torn between who I should ask to write my recommendation letter. My two choices are my yearbook adviser and my AP English teacher. I’ve known my yearbook adviser since Freshman year (I’m a Junior, btw) as her math student, joined yearbook as a Sophomore, and currently I’m her editor-in-chief. Obviously, the both of us have known each other for a long time and she places a lot of trust and confidence in me. We talk everyday and have that teasing relationship. She knows more of my personality and my leadership skills. But, I haven’t been her “traditional” teacher since two years ago. However, as her staff member, I know that she is encountering stress especially with all these deadlines for the yearbook and such.

On the other hand, I’ve only known my English teacher for this past year but I’ve participated more as a student than a staff member in her classroom. She knows more of my political stance and I’ve shown more insight through academics in her class. If it matters, my English teacher is also the newspaper adviser and shares the same political ideologies as me. I don’t know if she’s stressed or not, but as adviser to the newspaper, I’m guessing that there’s some degree of stress.

tldr: Should my Yearbook adviser who knows me more personally write my recommendation letter or should it be my English teacher who knows me more academically?

I think you should go for the yearbook adviser. It’s not like she never had you as a student (academically), and the relationship that you guys have is unbeatable. I don’t know about the program you’re applying to, but I know that almost all programs don’t only want to see your intellectual side, they want to see your passions, your ideas, what you do after school, etc.
