SoCal here, rural suburbs.
He goes into work. I stay home.
99% taking the trash, the recycling and the green compost bin out, the afternoon before pick up. We are now getting early pick ups, since the city will be billing us starting this month, after years of free city pick up since 1918.
99% doing the dishwasher. I hate doing dishes that was my main chore as a child and I still hate it but if I don’t do it, apparently people don’t see the mess they create in my house.
I do 99% of laundry. I want to do it because I don’t trust others in this house to read the labels.
Because my father was a mechanic for most of his life, somehow, my husband expects me to be a mechanic. Thankfully, I did have woodshop and metal shop in middle school. Plus my dad showed me how to weld, use tools, patch holes, paint and use a plumbers snake. I helped our son build and put together his computer.
Hubby does all the outside care, plus I have a gardener who fixes the outside care that my husband does. Does anyone else have one of these? One step forward, two steps back?
My husband has to take care of all the creepy crawlies and animals that reside in the pool, that was evidently made for them: spiders, red diamondback rattlesnakes, scorpions, quail, squirrels and rabbits when not in season from the coyotes and mountain lions.
I like cleaning the kitchen because then I know that it’s clean. Somehow, the husband and children don’t believe that pieces of food and crumbs get behind table-top appliances and coffee makers.
Now they want me to get an air fryer. For years, I had been wanting a kitchen remodel and when I finally got that, I got cabinet space enough to fit everything, or so I thought. Then my children moved back in, and took out their stored appliances, to fill up my counters, which I can’t stand! Air fryer, and rice cooker! No thank you. I paid a fortune for the remodel, to have clear counters and they wanna fill them up!
