…

undergrads* (sry i dont know the answer to your question haha)

professors?

haha…if you’re implying we might be taught by upperclassmen or grad students, this is true only to the extent that they might be TA’s…and an extension to that answer, for your IHUM courses, all TF’s (Teaching fellows= small section leaders) are PhD’s…

For the lecture portion, all courses are taught by PhD’s (or MDs). Now, whether they are full professors or assistant or associate professors is still another question. But if you want to compare stanford to a state school, you’ll be pleasantly surprised that all your profs will have doctorates…and many will be leaders in their respective fields (even in intro classes)

dr_slc:

I seem to remember that you received some merit aid from Rice. What prompted you to go to Stanford?

what dr_slc said is true, my “introduction to the oceans” course was taught by james ingle, a well know prof who’s published his very own textbook for oceanography

My physics class is taught by Osheroff, a Nobel Prize winning physist.

Prof. Zimbardo taught the underguards in the infamous Stanford Prison Experiment.

Zimbardo! I want to meet him but he no longer teaches at Stanford. =(

Darn! (Of course, I took his course a mere quarter of a century ago, so perhaps it’s to be expected.)

Zimbardo still teaches at Stanford. Two of my friends are taking PSYCH 187 from him right now (Exploring Human Nature: A Life-Changing Experience).

how about for the engineering school? I heard a lot of their course are taught by TAs?

I would be interested in knowing that too.

All courses are taught by professors. Only the discussion sections are led by TA’s, and discussions are just supplements to your class anyway. The professor always has office hours you can take advantage of.

There is this guy called Stanford_Alum82 (or something like that) ■■■■■■■■ around CC and telling people many classes are taught by grad students at Stanford.

My son’s ihum was taught by Tobias Wolffe, who he says is “the man.” Very available during office hours. Plans to take a course next term from the great Paul Ehrlich.
