Who thinks this weekend's Packers/Bears game will be more exciting than Super Bowl?

GO JETS. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS. Beat the Steelers.

Well, it’s interesting to see that people in the rest of the country ‘get’ the historic proportion of the game this weekend. Most people I saw today wearing spirit wear had on Bears stuff. Packers fans might be a little fearful to show their loyalty in Bear country. But someone in our office today did say that if you actually poll people we work with, it’s almost half and half.

Hoping for good news for Bears fans here. They did a piece on a private Kenosha WI grade school that is 50/50. Principal was interviewed wearing the cheese head!

Post #15…Very funny! My husband works in Illinois. There is a bet between the Packers fans (my husband and one other man) and the Bears fans (everyone else!) involving baked goods. NBC Nightly News did a segment on this historic game and rivalry with a border town here in Wisconsin and the mix of fans. Sporting schedules are being changed because of The Game, the Milwaukee Boat Show has changed their hours and certain large stores have announced they are closing early as they anticipate no customers Sunday afternoon. Ellen Degeneres has been talking about the Packers all week this week which has been fun!

The words from Jets territory here: “CAN’T WAIT!”

Sons (we are Wisconsin Packer fans) go to DePaul and Marquette. While Marquette is in Wisconsin, there are many Bears fans from Illinois attending. Both have said that the rivalry is off the charts. GO PACK GO !!!

Go Bears!

I have two Packer fan friends. They are sure the Packers will win, but not sure enough to put up Fannie May mint meltaways (Bears win) against homemade chili.

Cottonwood,

Always make Packer fans pay for their own Fannie May!

This isn’t even going to be as exciting as the Jets-Steelers game, much less the Jets-Packers Superbowl

My sister lives in Green Bay, and she says that any Sunday the Packers play is a great time to go shopping - the streets and the stores are nearly empty, and only a few women are out and about - everything is peaceful and serene.

We grew up in Chicago, and she’s not really a Packers fan; however, she is hoping for a Packers’ win because it will give the depressed Green Bay economy a little boost. More needed there than in Chicago.

footballthuggin2 - ahem… this game is 70 years in the making. How do you figure the Jets/Steelers game will be more exciting?

Interesting article in the Trib today for the ‘fair-weather’ fan:

[What every fair-weather sports fan needs to know about the Bears-Packers rivalry - chicagotribune.com](http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/ct-met-schmich-0123-11-20110123,0,5594497.column)

By the way, I’m not buying into all the predictions that the Bears have no chance.

teriwtt,

I think the Bears’ chances hinge on whether the O line shows up to do its job.

Exactly gloworm. That’s why I’m not convinced of the predictions. If the O line shows up, the Packers will have a very close game, I think.

so you expect me to believe that because these teams have never been good enough at the same time to play each other in a game of this magnitude in 70 years that its suddenly a huge rivalry game?

Walgreens is actually allowing employees in WI/IL to wear team shirts on Sunday. I know of pharmacists who will bring in a radio just to listen to the game. We are all guessing Sunday afternoon is going to be dead.

footballthuggin2 - if you lived in the Chicagoland/Wisconsin area, you know that this rivalry has always been HUGE! If you go back and read the article, it explains how the founding fathers of the NFL were tied to the Bears and Packers, and why the names Halas, Lombardi and Lambeau are steeped so deeply in NFL history.

It’s always been a significant rivalry, and the fact that the winner of this game goes to the Super Bowl, well, the stakes are that much higher.

Nova10 - that’s surprising, considering Walgreens is based in the Chicago suburbs, that they’re allowing either team shirt!

My neighbor used to work for Walgreens, though, and is a huge Packers fan. In fact, our block is sort of odd… we have a large number of Packers fans here, with no ties to ever living in WI.

Gearing up!!

Right now I go with the Packers because of the color of their uniforms and with the Steelers because of the logo of their helmets.

But I may change my mind in the middle of the game because the team I favor does not do beautiful job.

Poll: What do you have for the game snack?

I have tortilla chips and salsa.
