I’m not a huge football fan, but with H and both daughters being serious Packers fans, and our living in the Chicago area, I have paid some attention to all the hype. H was actually at the Bears game last weekend, hoping for a win because he sees this as almost the biggest game of his life since following NFL football. But I’m wondering if the rest of the country is as aware of the epic nature of this game.

H’s 50th birthday was last weekend and D2 ordered him a Bart Starr throwback jersey, but we’re not sure if it’s going to make it in time for the game Sunday. I actually broke down and bought a Packers jersey for myself (I attended my first game at Lambeau this year) as I’m the only family member who does not have one. When I was out shopping for it, I also purchased a Packers car window flag, and after H went to sleep last night, I snuck out to the garage and put it on his car so he’d see it when he went to work this morning. He emailed me to let me know what a nice surprise he thought it was.

Not into football (nor is H), but almost 30 years in GB plus a childhood in this state makes me immersed in Packers and knowledgeable about the rivalry. You are so generous to cater to the opposition.

This is THE game of the post season. It will be interesting on the UW campus (making a college connection here) as there are plenty of Illinois students there… Local oldies radio station is stating they won’t play/take requests this week for songs by Chicago… Saw someone actually buying a Bears large decorated cookie today at the local grocery store- the clerk said if it sells, they can make money on it so they make them in addition to the green and gold everything. Of course they will be wearing Packers jerseys during the game, as they always do. Streets will be empty Sunday afternoon.

If both teams perform as they have been it will be an interesting game. It has been strange to hear names of Packers making names for themselves during the playoffs- so many injuries during the season it isn’t the same team that began. Also, they lost so many games by 3 points their record could have been much better so it is a better matchup than one might think. Most of this knowledge by skimming local Sunday papers…

More than enough from me. Any reactions from those other than the Packers and Bears territory fans? Or is it just the local long time rivalry?

As a non-Steeler fan living in Pittsburgh area, let me assure you no one here thinks that way about the Packers-Bears game. It’s all Steelers, Steelers, Steelers (yuk). My in-laws are from Wisc and I have a Bret Favre jersey which I am going to dig out of my closet.

Here’s a shout-out from the Northeast that YES! this game should be epic…and so much history. But I’m really excited about Jets-Steelers. It’s been a looonnnng time since Namath and 1969…

DH is a huge, huge lifetime Packer fan - Bart Starr, Ray Nitschke - with a complete green-and-gold wardrobe, right down to his lucky socks and his Dan Majkowski jersey. Our first trip as a newlywed couple was to Canton Ohio to the Pro Football Hall of fame so we could look at the Packer stuff. We even drove from our home in southeastern Michigan to Milwaukee to see the scab Packers play during the strike of 1987 (“greater love has no man than this - than he drives 12 hours to see fake Packers play…”)

All this to say - he is so geeked up for the game this weekend. D now goes to school in Chicago and mentioned to me on the phone yesterday “Mom, did you know that the Packers are playing the Bears this weekend? It’s all anyone talks about!”

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the lucky socks do their job on Sunday!

Mixed marriage here. H and his family are huge Packer fans from way back. I grew up in a houseful of Bears fans. H will be glued to the game and on the phone with D (Packer fan) a lot of that time. I don’t watch football, but I’m going for the Pack so that H and D are happy.

I think it will be a good game! Yeah, sometimes the Super Bowl ends up being unexciting and one team is just soundly defeated, those types of Super Bowl games make the commercials the whole focus! (Unless there is a “wardrobe malfunction.”)

As a Steelers fan, of course that game is most important to me but the Packers-Bears game will be interesting in its own right. Both games will be in the cold, on potentially messy fields, and feature good ol’ fashioned football. I like the way the Packers play but I’m rooting for the Bears because I think we’ll have an easier time beating them!

I live in SE Wisconsin and yes, this is HUGE!!! Near the border here, there are plenty of Bears fans. Church on Sunday will be equally represented with Packers and Bears fans. My Pastor is part of a mixed marriage in that regard. She is a Packers fan and her husband is a Bears fan. I have been a huge Packers fan forever. I am actually a descendent of Johnny “Blood” McNally. I was on Wheel of Fortune NFL player’s week years ago with Edgar Bennett as my partner. It was the year of our last Super Bowl appearance (which we lost to Denver). In Chicago, they are calling this the biggest sporting event to ever take place there. I was wondering, also, how the rest of the nation is viewing this game. I can’t wait!!!

Sorry - since last weekend everyone in New England is marking the date 2/13 - the day pitchers and catchers report:) I didn’t even realize football games are still being played!

First sign of spring - the day the equipment truck leaves Fenway.

I think BOTH championship games will be better than the Super Bowl. Except for a handful of exceptions, they usually are. Having the NFC championship game at Soldier Field (on a horrible field ?!) will make for a close game. That fact and also a guy named Julius Peppers…

But, in the end, I would take the Packers with Aaron Rodgers over the Bears with Jay Cutler.

S has been a Packer fan since about age 3. If you look at his room (still - he’s 18) you might think he is a Brett Favre stalker (!) He remains a Brett fan, but also a Packers fan to the max (apparently it IS possible to do both!). He packed his Favre autographed signed jersey with him when he went back to school - he has wore it at every Packer playoff game since he was about 9 or 10 and will be wearing it this Sunday at his college!

Aaron Rodgers is pretty sweet himself!

Should be a great game - two die-hard teams used to playing out in the elements - out in freezing cold elements this Sunday I’m sure to play for a spot in the bowl!

Rooting for the Bears here, lifelong fan. But… being from Chicago originally, I’m only cautiously optimistic. Those big cheese triangles should kepp the Cheese Heads warm, though.

And rooting for the Steelers over the Jets.
