I need three different recommendation letters for a scholarship I’m applying to, but I’m uncertain who would look most impressive to the review board. Last year, out of approximately 120 applicants, the board only chose eight recipients, so it’s not as statistically improbable as some scholarships. I just want to look as appealing as possible.
Over the summer I volunteered at a local museum and worked closely with both the appointed director and the marketing manager. I’d like to major in Advertising, so I’m thinking that requesting a letter from the marketing manager would look more relevant to my interests. However, I’m not sure if requesting a letter from the directer looks more impressive.
For my second letter, I’m split between my debate teacher and a former assistant debate coach. My teacher knows me incredibly well, and I associate with him on a daily basis. The former assistant coach is retired lawyer and now does realty work. I haven’t spoken at length with the assistant coach in over a year, but I’m aware that she’s written letters for some of my classmates.
Overall, I’m just unsure if prestige, relevancy, or familiarity have any importance over other traits.
