Who watches Top Chef? (Spoiler Alert)

I am soooo unhappy with this season’s outcome! The winner served baby eels from a jar on a piece of soggy toast and we are supposed to be impressed? Elan’s whole menu left me queasy. Did anyone else watch the finale tonight? What did you think?

i’m disappointed too! i would have much rather had marcel win. his food was so much more creative and cutting edge! i’m so sick of ilan and his spanish cuisine. too predictable for me. i’m quite angry.

I wanted Marcel to win too!!!

I never understood why they disliked him so much, made no sense…I think they were just jealous (although Marcel did overdo it on the foam sometimes, but he got over that).

Plus, his explanations and answers were 6x better than Ilan’s.

I think Sam, Cliff, and Elia were the best chefs. Last season was better, the best chef actually won.

I thought Ilan was a one-trick pony…Spanish and more Spanish with a little side of Spanish…

Also, I thought Ilan was rude and manipulative. Ilan’s and Elia’s brilliant little headshaving idea got Cliff kicked off. And then Ilan was the instigator trying to Elia and Sam to speak up against Marcel. Elia speaks up and Ilan is silent whistling at the ceiling…leaving Elia holding the bag. The worst was Betty and her loud, foul mouth…her behavior was far more unprofessional than Marcel imho. Of course, then there if Frank with his loud, foul mouth…

Too bad about Sam. He seemed like the only adult in a room full of children.

I watch this show and all I think of is the soup nazi. I preferred the Food N, version, it wasn’t so mean spirited.

I watched it, and I thought everyone except for Marcel should have been booted when Cliff got booted. They were all accessories to the Cliff’s assault & battery on Marcel. They should have booted Sam, Elia, and Ilan along with Cliff, and then brought back the 3 previous bootees.

And I loathe Tom Colicchio. I don’t think I’ll be back for the next season.

I have to say that I’m glad Ilan won. I do think that Marcel is a bit too full of himself, and I despise the chemicals he adds to his food. Marcel needed to be taken down a peg. Even assuming his food is better than Ilan’s, a chef needs to be able to command a kitchen. Marcel couldn’t. Forgetting the fish? Come on, that was Marcel’s fault, not Sam’s or Mike’s. I think Marcel only made it into the finals rather than Sam to keep the rivalry (and hence the ratings) up.

I wanted Marcel to win too! Ilan just seems like a rude, mean person. I think in the long run Marcel probably has more potential in becoming a good chef. I read some where that the dishes that Ilan made last night were really similar to the dishes that are on the menu at his restaurtant. That makes me really mad.

I started watching this series a few weeks ago, so I don’t know the chefs who were eliminated early. I liked Sam the best but I’m glad Ilan won over Marcel. I think being a great chef requires more than just making wonderful dishes; you must be able to have the respect of those working with you. Also, Marcel should follow Sam’s example and be gracious in defeat.

As Chef shows go, I love “The F Word”.

anyone see Marcel tackle Elia on the beach…

and Marcel was grating, but a good chef

Sam played it safe too often

My fave was Elia and she should have won, and if Marcel hadn’t blamed Sam with being jealous and purposely messing up, which if you know Sam was sooo not his style, he might have had a better chance…but his excuses and childish blaming others hurt him

He was pretty selfish and self involved, at least what we saw.

Elia was the best and was responsible for Ilan’s perfect fish dish in the finals.

Of course, you never know whether the editing is showing you the full story or not, but I felt like Marcel was the classic victim of bullying. The cool kids all decided they didn’t like him, and so they picked on him.

I don’t really care for Marcel’s style of cooking, but I felt inclined to root for him considering the way everyone else was piling on. I think Elia was probably the best chef there, I just find her personally unlikeable. Actually, it was hard to like any of these people.

I agree Elia should have been in the final two. Even Ilan admitted she the was a better technical chef. I think Marcel was way out there ahead of the other contestants in what was going on in his profession and that deserves to be rewarded. And Elia clearly demonstrated that she was more creative and had more skill than the others as well. (Sam was a cutie, but I just don’t think he was cutting edge.) My final two would have been Elia and Marcel and then I wouldn’t have minded Elia beating Marcel. But between Ilan and Marcel…no way should Ilan have won with those rehash dishes.

Here is an interesting tidbit. Did you all know that Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, the Indian supermodel (my husband calls her the Asian Angelina Jolie…I know he thinks she’s hot but he’ll never admit it…lol!) is married to Salman Rushdie?

She is quite smoking hot. I was for Marcel but he needs a little seasoning.

Anyone got one of those newfangled tvs where you can taste the food?

I wish mini…lol! I’m a terrible chef, I should probably at least start taking notes.

“Actually, it was hard to like any of these people.”

Yea you’re right…I didn’t really like anyone’s personality. The first girl who was voted off was probably the nicest.

I hated Betty: way too fake. And I hated Mia…oy!

Elia was probably my favorite, but she got weird at the end. Sam just let everything slide, when he was an instigator in most of the problems with Marcel.

Agree Ilan was second rated.

Elia was full of herself too. She tried to instigate (limp) something near the end and was rightly cut off by Colichio. And she displayed no emotion when one of the early contestant (forgot her name) offered herself to be let go instead of Elia. She barely grinned. It should have been Marcel against Michael ! Sophistication vs raw scrub.
