Also applied to LSM! Good luck to all of you :)

So, I just realized that I’ll be at work until seven the Friday that decisions come out! AND I can’t even sneak peek using my phone. (My boss is a nice lady but she likes to confiscate things.) Guess I’ll have to suffer two hours in agony and hope for some good news…

See Emily Paige, someone agrees with me.

@hardworking, yeah I don’t know what LSM is looking for either. But for these programs, I think it’s all about fit. Anyways, I did some research too; it was on drugs, what was your research on? I didn’t submit it to intel or siemens either, so I am on the same boat as you.

Out of curiosity what’s your second choice, if you don’t get into LSM? Good news is that about half of class is filled in ED! Bad news class is 25 out of maybe 400 applicants this year.

@littlestar, thing is on this thread, there are so many people on this thread who are humble. But most are just preparing for the worst case scenario. That’s why everyone is bashing themselves, but realistically (based on last year), probably half on this thread will get in.

@free2rhyme
It’ll suck being on the half that doesn’t get in. :(

@sweetpuri: That probably means you are going to get in. In my past (relatively short) experience, the long you have to wait something, the better the results tend to be. :)

@free2rhyme: I did Wharton is my back-up. I’ve been interested in business through and through.
And mine was on pharmaceutical applications as well!

If I get rejected I will call out sick from work the day after, lay in bed and watch Arrested Development all day and feel pathetic.

Also, the night of the 9th I will cathartically burn my Penn t-shirt.

CC’s Penn ED acceptance rate is actually more like 60%, according to last year’s results.
I like to think that the people who post the most often on this thread have a higher chance of getting, just because we’re truly passionate and dedicated to Penn as shown in how often we talk about Penn even in our everyday lives. =)

@ hardworking, I had CAS for my number two. I hope our drug projects get us in.

@sweetpuri, man, I am missing a bunch of LSM applicants. So, sweetpuri, what was your number two school?

@ sweetcookie, CC only has that percentage because people who are rejected are probably less likely to post their stats. So in a way, it is skewed. But no worries guys, if I get rejected, I will post my stats.

I’m feeling a little bit better!

All night I’ve been watching youtube videos of my safety school’s best a capella group for consolation.

@free2rhyme: Haha. I mean, to be quite honest, I’d be overjoyed with just Wharton. LSM was more of the 100% absolute dream, but I’m incredibly practical in knowing that so few kids get in (I’ve been told 25 around the entire globe).

@hardworking, yeah that’s true. But for me, I see it differently (and in a way it is a bit dumber). I see it as a pool of 400 applicants instead of like 15,000 or so, but yeah those 400 are stronger applicants, so… Ehh. Realistically, if I get into Penn it would probably be through the LSM program b/c of fit and definitely not stats. Otherwise, I can’t see myself getting in at CAS normally. So that’s my guess, but I know schools and especially programs like this is definitely a crapshoot. So we will see…

@free2rhyme: I wish more Canadians posted in the results thread, and not just the most amazing accepted ones. We’re scrutinized from a slightly different perspective.

@free2rhyme: Agreed. I mean, my why Penn essay included a little bit of LSM (as I spoke on classes, etc.). So, I’m not sure how they can accept someone into Wharton and not LSM, but hey, I’d still be 100% elated with just Wharton. I’m just not sure how they can read an app and say “LSM–probably not. But let’s give him/her Wharton admit.”

@free2rhyme, hardworking21

My second choice was also Wharton. Aw thank you for the reassuring words, but I am trying not to get my hopes up and to expect the worst.

By the way, your research projects sound interesting! I really wish I had time to squeeze in some research in the summer but never did…

Bahah. 1,000 posts before midnight? Is it possible?

I’m going to sleep guys…This is kind of late for me. I like my sleep

@hardworking, yeah I had no idea how to make those essays seem focused on my interests and LSM without it sounding like I am sucking up to them. How was your Why Penn essay different than your Why LSM essay? For my Why Penn essay, I focused more on my undergrad classes and Ecs between Wharton and CAS, with the LSM one, I talked about how I would make an impact in the world after college with that education. Don’t know how that went though. I wish in a way there were more LSM applicants, so we could ask for advice and guidance.

I think there is a specialized committee that looks at LSM applicants. They choose whether you have got it or not. So based on that, they might say “ehh… This kid deserves to be at Wharton or CAS, not LSM”. And then Wharton and CAS look at you like a normal applicant. But how LSM chooses who gets in to their program, I have no idea.

@sweetcookie, I know exactly what you are talking about. The only canadian I saw get into Penn was maybe like one last year after checking like three or four years of results thread. That kid, I think, was scary smart. there was another one who got into Yale, but he was okay. I don’t what to expect, but I think Canadians and US citizens are treated equally if you live in US.

I just couldn’t wait anymore, after lurking the forums since I submitted, so had to jump into the convo. All of you seem nice and really penn-tastic.
Been counting down since like day 75, it’s almost into single digits, getting anxiety like no other. I can’t even do my other apps now D: Just hoping to get in like all of you are.

@sweetpuri, I think, that even if you didn’t do any research, if you “fit” (which could mean practically anything") in the eyes of the LSM committee, you have a good chance.

But yeah guys, sorry about the grammar and punctuations with the last few posts. I am on my iPod.

I with sweetcookie, I have some stat and FBLA stuff to do. So see ya guys later.
