Maybe we’ll be 4/25 :D

I did CAS back up. I’d be elated just to go to penn. it’s my dream. wait wait thinks about other things until dec 9th

Hello ooquanta! Like your usage of the word “penn-tastic” :)

Same D: I haven’t even bothered with my RD apps. It’s not that I’m lazy; I just can’t stop thinking about Penn.

Really? I’m the opposite. I’ve been focusing on RD apps to get my mind off Penn…

@free2rhyme: Oh, gotcha. Yeah, my Why Penn was more focused overall on me being a fit for the university, while the Why LSM was more focused on my ambitions long term and how LSM would let me reach those.

@crazypluto

That is actually a really good strategy. For some reason, I just couldn’t bring myself to start working on them! Hmm… I’ll try to begin this week so I can keep my mind busy.

Hey everyone. So like I retook my ACT in October and SAT Subject Tests in November, but I never personally emailed Penn about my scores but I did send in my Official Score Report. Will they automatically just update my scores from the Score Report or was i supposed to tell them myself?

Night, ladies and gents.
I hope you sleep well and get all school-affiliated work finished.

I think I may take a CC hiatus for a while,
and I’ll return next week for the home stretch.
This is just very anxiety-evoking.

I wish you all the very best.

@sweetpuri
I’d just be ecstatic to get in. :]

Well penn is my dream school. Have any of you felt funky trying to write how you would fit into another school when only penn feels like the best/only choice? Well, that’s why I’ve found it a bit hard to do my other regular decision schools. That and anxiety of the countdown to judgement.

I’m with EmPaige…I need a break from CC. Dec. 9…AHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
@everyone: You are all so nice and sooo smart!! I know that a lot of you guys will definitely get in for sure. I wish all of you the best too!
And now, I have to finish preparing for the debate tomorrow in my AP Gov class :/

Alrighty guys! It’s still 9 over here, but eschewing sleep for this thread has been so fun. WHEN DO WE START THE COUNTDOWN?

this does not belong in this forum but my sister freakin cut my bangs while i was asleep last night …i was so mad i didnt obsess with penn all day lol

9 days! It’s single digits now!

This forum is making me even more obsessed with getting into Penn! :P

As far as finishing RD applications, I’ve been trying to do that too. It’s just been tough because I don’t want to go anywhere as badly as I want to go to Penn. It does help keep your mind off of Dec 9th though. I have a feeling if I don’t finish my other apps by the 9th, there won’t be time to do them after I get rejected/deferred.
Also, finishing the other apps is basically preparing for rejection, which I always think helps your chances. Expecting the worst makes good things happen for some reason :P

@kristinabrown1: Oh my gosh! Your sister is so mean! Dx How old is she??

@sweetcookie: OMG you make me laugh
“Ah yes, we cherish student body diversity more than anything else. Why, there’s even an albino amongst us!” <— LOL :D

And just btw but this is the BEST idea I’ve ever heard: “Then, I’ll cover the screen up with something, and slowly reveal the page inch by inch.” GOD I’m not getting ANY sleep for the next weeeeek OMGGGG (@45 Percenter: I LOVE YOU!!!)

Also guys, if anyone could please help me out here? I’ve been FREAKING out about this.

I emailed my Regional Admissions Officer a few weeks ago to ask what would be the best way to send my updated grades to Penn but he did not reply. So I had my counselor update my grades and upload it to my Common App account through the Mid Year Report form, and my account said it was downloaded by Penn last week. That means they MUST have added it to my file right? Or would they have just saved it to some random location and possibly never looked at it? These grades are pretty important to me and I literally worked my butt off for them so I’m getting pretty freaked out.

What do you guys think??? Thanks btw :)

ALSO: let’s just do the countdown on this thread! It’d be super confusing if we did it on another one. So someone start off (with Penn colors, shall we? :P)

And #2: can we get a list like the LSM people did of everyone who applied solely to Wharton? (i.e. no dual degrees)

Sorry about that. :o

Actually, your counselor is supposed to use the Optional Grade Report for first-quarter grades:

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/Docs/DownloadForms/2012/2012OptionalReport_download.pdf

The Midyear Report is only for grades at the end of the first semester or second trimester (per the instructions on that form):

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/Docs/DownloadForms/2012/2012MidYear_download.pdf

If your counselor used the Midyear Report, you might want to ask him/her to resubmit the grades to Penn ASAP using the Optional Grade Report (to ensure that the Admissions Office understands that these are very recent grades). I’d recommend that you also email your regional admissions officer again just to alert him/her that your recent grades have been submitted to the Admissions Office. Even though they apparently were downloaded by the Admissions Office, it doesn’t hurt to ensure that the regional admissions officer is aware that they’ve been submitted.

Hope this helps you get at least some sleep over the next week. :)

Are we like the earliest ivy that let the decisions come out? My friend applied to Princeton, and theirs come out on Dec 15th.

Nope. Cornell and, I think, Columbia (not sure that’s been confirmed) are releasing their decisions on December 8th. Don’t know about Brown, Dartmouth, etc.

@aangel42 - I wish Penn did something more conspicuous and showy for online acceptances like flashing a big congratulations banner with some celebratory music in the background lol. I mean last year’s online acceptance letter had the words Huzzah Huzzah immediately under your name…so I’ll probably be heartbroken if I slowly inch my way down without seeing those two words under my name or if the first sentence of the main paragraph doesn’t begin with something along the lines of “Congratulations”…Defer or Rejection letter will probably begin with “Thank you for applying to Penn, but…”

Actually, it was “Hurrah, hurrah Pennsylvania!”

It comes from this (if you become a student at Penn, you’ll get to know this song very well ):

[The Red and Blue! - YouTube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agElJJ8IUYM&feature=related)

@45Percenter - oops my bad. wonder what new phrase Penn will incorporate into the acceptance letter this year. Or will it even change from last year’s?
I would very much enjoy the opportunity to learn the song and learn it by heart. Keeping my fingers crossed.

^ If I recall correctly, I think that the “Hurrah, hurrah Pennsylvania!” has been in the acceptance letter for at least the past couple of years (someone usually posts the contents or either the ED or the RD acceptance letter each year–you can search old results threads if you’re curious :)).
