Who's applying ED to Penn?

Will anyone chance me? PM me if you will
PLEASE and THANK YOU! :)

@sister277
Yeah, just finished interviewing. It was good :DDDD My interviewer said the admissions officer told her that it was urgent that she interview me, so for me, I guess it was pretty important. So it seems that the officers are finalizing the reviewing process now.

So much excitement, so much anxiety, I don’t know what I will do. Looking at second choice schools, is like admitting defeat for me, I’m gonna keep from doing that for now.

And for the email, I got mine 7 hours ago, and I applied the 28th of October.

Wow, if it was “urgent,” maybe your app was sent to committee!

Yeah I’d agree with that. Maybe you’re borderline accepted!

But I thought interviews were called without any aspect of the application screened. I think it was urgent just because it’s so late.

Not that you’re not qualified or anything! Haha I just thought that was how they worked.

Oh btw guys, I think that this year’s ED acceptance rate will be higher because they will be anticipating a reduced number of applications RD due to Harvard/Princeton’s EA status. None of THOSE kids will apply RD and so they will most likely increase the ED rate to keep the number of accepted applicants constant (or close to it).

^Or, they could keep the acceptance rate the same, since those same kids who get rejected EA will still apply RD.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the acceptance rate though? I’ve heard some people claim that the rate will actually go UP.

Yeah, I stick with my claim. Although you’re definitely right that EA rejects will apply RD, those same kids would apply RD in the past when SCEA didn’t exist for Harvard and Princeton. However, the only difference this year in applications RD is that SOME people will not have to apply to UPenn due to their early acceptance aka most of the EA accepted, which is probably a few thousand.

I don’t think it’s not going to go above 30%

Hi everyone! Wow I’m really late in joining this spazztic but amazing conversation. I love how everyone’s supporting each other and it feels so much better to go through this together. (:

Which school you’re applying to (CAS, Wharton, Engineering, Nursing)
I’m applying to CAS.

Already submitted your app?
Yep!

Did you do the optional Penn essay?
Yes!

Where you’re from:
I live in Shanghai but I’m from Taipei.

Good luck everyone! And about the acceptance rate…I really, really hope the acceptance rate is higher!

The ED accetance rate will stay roughly the same as it was last year (26%). Over the last several years, with the number of ED applicants ranging from 3,600 up to the current 4,500+, Penn has consistently accepted slightly less than half of the incoming class through ED–around 1,200 or slightly less, but never more. I strongly suspect that Penn wants to avoid accepting more than 50% of the class through ED for a variety of reasons.

Also, regarding Penn’s RD round and the effect of the restoration of early admissions at H and P, Dean Furda was quoted in The Daily Pennsylvanian as expecting Penn’s RD yield to actually rise a bit, because of the absence of some early-accepted H and P applicants from the Penn RD pool. So, no need to compensate with a larger number of ED acceptances.

Well, it’s not actually the admission office that makes the assignments;
it’s the alumni association (a well-kept secret in college admission), meaning your admission result has nothing to do with interview request from the admissions

I just hope the e-mails aren’t sent in order of decision (accepted first, rejected last)… fingers crossed

I also hope that isn’t true… I got mine at 8:00 EST last night… :</p>

Do we really think that they send the emails in order of decision? Have they done this before in the past? Just wondering bc I received mine at 5:33 EST yesterday…

Are we actually so delirious as to think they would send out e-mails to people by grouping of decision? Don’t you think we’d catch on pretty quickly? They’re not unintelligent humans.

I’m almost positive it’s by region, or maybe it’s… RANDOM.
I know our type-A minds can’t fathom that, but we’re over-analyzing it.
I received mine late, and although I may be rejected, the two events
are in no way unrelated.

COME ON GUYS, LET’S GET IT TOGETHER.
And let’s have fantastic weekends.

I got mine at 241pm EST… But I sent my app at on like oct 21st. I think its very random… Or perhaps in the order of their mailing list! Let’s not over think it. A lil more than a week ago I got rejected from cambridge… I really hope by the end of this week I don’t get another rejection :’(

QUESTION: Has anyone NOT received a financial aid confirmation email yet?
I’m seriously thinking they lost my documents.

I haven’t… All i submitted was the Penn Financial Aid Supplement and the CSS profile, and will send the Tax returns for 2011 in March or whenever… is that right?

@sweetcookie I haven’t either. :/
