@sweetcookie: oh god, throwing up… /badmemoriesfrom16hourflights If it works for you as a stress reliever, then it’s good for you! XD Nature gave us the ability to cry for a reason, after all. (/totalawarethatusingitasastressrelieverprobablyisntthereason)

@littlestar and sweetcookie: I’ve been extremely lucky for unknown reasons during my life so I don’t know. I’m like optimistic about Penn for no reason. I “worship” a fictional character who is like THE GODDESS OF LUCK so I dunno maybe that can help my chances? lol.

Why did you all decide to apply ED to Penn, and which school are you shooting for?

@sweetcookie & @aloice: hi fellow Chinese fwends =) I’m of a Chinese decent as well~ living in NZ though.
thanks for the international student quote answers, unfortunately i dont have a green card yet, so i dont get the need-blind policy ><
so i applied without financial aid!
btw, if you hold a non-Chinese passport, and ever decide to go to say Pe King University, its MUCH easier than millions of brilliant-top mainland students enduring gao kao and trying to get in ~

@IheartPW: hello direct competiton. jk hi and all the best of luck on Friday I dunno why non-Chinese passport holders would want to go to Beijing U though, I mean it’s not like it’s very famous internationally and I doubt it teaches that many courses in English

@Aloice: LOL idk, if you ever have super smart enemies in China who wants to attend there, that’s your chance xD
you’re applying to SEAS though… right? I’m applying to CAS…
and just read through this thread, your CR is so friggin good! or its just mine is too bad… not really keeping my hopes up

@IheartPW - aaaaah competiton! DX lol. Yeah, I’m applying to SEAS. My CR is… okay, I suppose. I need them to weigh that more though since my ECs suck.

@Laodicean: I’m going to retire from this thread for a while, unfortunately. AP assignments are piling up DX

@Aloice: but when I read your CR-740, i was omg what is that person talking about! i’d suppose your asianing your EC’s as well. the asian modesty ahaha
do you guys say asian fail over in the States?

@EmPaige, I know right. Guess we just have to get accepted to Penn first.#hopingforthebest

You what sucks?
People telling you they have “this feeling” that you are going to get in. It just makes the possibility of rejection seem THAT MUCH WORSE.

@accordingtome- Yes to both! My friends keep say “I have this really strong feeling that you will get in…” So then in my brain I get my hopes up and being rejected will suck that much worse…

@accordingtome: “People telling you they have “this feeling” that you are going to get in. It just makes the possibility of rejection seem THAT MUCH WORSE.”—YES!! Argh. Everyone I know keeps telling me that. My Scholastic Bowl (sort of like quizbowl/academic decathlon) coach’s two sons went to Wharton undergrad then Harvard MBA and she was like “Yeah, I want to be the 3rd one to know when you get in” and I was like “I don’t think I’m even getting in!!” AHHHHHH.

@accordingtome
Right?! Just yesterday, my friend Joe said, “You know you’re getting in,” and my cousin (current Wharton student) said, “I can’t wait to see you next fall!” Didn’t help much. -_-

@acceptmealalready
Dark chocolate <3 I can watch Food Network all day, everyday. I try to be a health freak but I never succeed… I eat out too much! Atleast I work out a lot…?

-> So, what are your favorite TV shows??? (I thought I’d ask since I am currently watching HIMYM. International students should answer as well!) :)

I know I said that I wasn’t coming back, but I felt that it was my duty to get this thread back at the top with the most posts. And its pretty addicting to find out what’s going on here.

“People telling you they have “this feeling” that you are going to get in. It just makes the possibility of rejection seem THAT MUCH WORSE.”

A few people told me this and that I have a good chance. What keeps me grounded is that out of the 20 or so people who apply every year to Penn, only ~2 get in. So that’s what helps me stay realistic.

Favorite Show: A bunch really… How I Met Your Mother, Outsourced, the Office, Family Guy (to an extent), etc.

Along with favorite show, what are your guys favorite movies?

I just saw Limitless today; it was awesome. I wish I had some NZT throughout high school.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER IS THE BEST! I also watch Community, Bones, Parks and Rec, and a bunch of crappy amazing CW shows. I also loved bones while it was on.

I could definitely watch the food network all day too!

I spent a lot of time this summer watching old movies, but I still have NO idea which one is my favorite. I loved purple rose of cairo and this property is condemned!

I hate when people are like “Omg, you are insert aspect of my application, you’ll definitely get in!” it’s like…there is around a 75 chance i won’t get in sooo…

People keep saying that to me too! Every time I tell someone I’m freaking out over college applications, they’re always like, “Why?? You’re definitely getting into Penn!” and it makes me feel awful because I know my chances are slim to none. There’s always about 10-15 people that apply to ivy league schools every year, and usually only one person gets in. I think a couple of years ago 3 people got into Penn, but that was really unusual.

You’re all going to make fun of me, but one of my favorite TV shows is iCarly. I don’t care if it’s meant for preteens, it’s pretty hilarious.
The Office is an amazing show too. xD
I’ve seen Family Guy, but I don’t think it’s as funny as everyone says it is. Maybe it’s just me :P

And as far as movies go, I’m obsessed with Disney.
iCarly and Disney–you guys must think I have the mind of a 7 year old lol.
