Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

haahah thanks MDG :stuck_out_tongue: and aww, sorry, TFN, i was just trying to help lol but hopefully it will be good news and you’ll be excited!!!

and yay for doing well on your econ final! i couldn’t do econ for my life.

i feel like my posts always end up as the first on a new page. what. lol

Judging by the fact that I spoke to several people who made grades which were less than 40%, I think the majority of my class concurs with you, Ironic. Microecon is okay, but I’ve always hated macro. I’m sure I still pulled out an A though. I could have had an A+, but there were always 2-3 questions which held me back on each test because I couldn’t remember some small details.

XD I’m tired. 12+ hours of chemistry really kills a guy…I really hope I can get a B+ on this final, so it becomes my grade. My other three grades will be As (two A-s, one A).

I might be taking a genetics introduction class online from MIT this winter break (it’s not an actual class, just introductory material and info presented on what’s studied in the course and example lectures/topics. Since it’s possibly my career interest, that’d be cool to do.)

That’s great, east, how many tests do you have left? When do you expect to hear from Emory?

As for me, I might take Macro or Micro this semester at Cornell. Not sure yet. Parents don’t want me to take chem II…I really want to though…

chem II is a nightmare. i have to retake it if i’m going to go to medical school. i’m really not looking forward to it -_- it’s ALL math. literally no chem, just annoying math and calculus-derived complicated equations.

Hi guys,

I got an A in his Eco class.

Also both of my biological parents abandoned me at birth and i lived with a man that doesnt have a job and we were very poor and there were times where we had no heat in the winter or food. So my essay will be good.

Thank you for you input, i would appreciate it!

That depends. What school/major are you applying to?

College of arts and sciences as a econ major
thanks!

East, I’m very sorry about the decision. Please let us know when Emory sends their acceptance!! I know this will happen very soon!!
You are a kind & caring person, who was always one of the 1st, to congratulate or console people…regarding their decisions.
Don’t forget about us!!

MDG…congratulations of your acceptance!!! Let us know which dorm you get.
I had physics and bio exams today…not the finals, but, big ones.
Chem exam at 8:am…so, nite-nite everyone!!

I just finished with my last final today, Ryan.

Thank you very much, Molly. I’ll have to figure out where I’m going to go from here, but its just a momentary setback. I’m not sure when I’ll hear back from Emory, but I’ll be sure to let you all know.

poleandreel, CAS is super hard to get into (no one in this thread was accepted), and econ is one of the most competitive majors. that said, if you keep up your 4.0, you’ll have the stats to get in, but your essays and LORs will matter a lot.

Thanks ironically unsure. im thinking of putting down english or somthing of that nature and then switching it once i am accepted

poleandreel,

the fact that you are choosing econ isn’t what is holding you back (to a certain extent). The reality is CAS accepts about (correct me if I am wrong) 9.8% of transfer applicants. That being said, you would probably have no better chance applying english as opposed to econ. Just keep up the grades, write amazing essays, and get phenomenal letters of recommendation and you should have a chance!

Hope that helped.

Michael

any one wanna send me their essays so I can have some sort of idea what the hell to write about, the long essays are holding me back.
How many essays for Business majors? Two?

TFN, i’m an international applicant. there aren’t too many applying from abroad around here are there?

There are a few, yeezy, but only like, one from CC from what I’ve calculated. Where are you from?

hi water, i’m from the the UK.

I just got an answer from Ian. It didn’t really help much. Basically, he just said because of the economy and the lack of students studying abroad coupled with an increase in the number of applicants, they weren’t able to accept as many students as they thought they would. He didn’t say there were any flaws in my app and kind of just told me to do exactly what I have been doing if I re-apply.

Maybe ILR just had to cut back…? They probably accepted a lot of in-state transfers then got picky with the rest…I know based on the previous years stats, they’re normal rate is like between 25-40 accepted transfers, then a bunch of others get GTs (but I guess they don’t hand out GTs for us spring transfer applicants, seeing as how no one got one.)

I don’t think reapplying would be a bad idea at all, east, especially if you come up to Emory but really still want to go to Cornell. Reapplying always helps an application, that’s for sure, as evidence by guys like calpoly.

water, so its possible for them to hand out GT’s to spring applicants for the fall? and is it really better for students who are reapplying? i didn’t know that.

east, definitely try again.

Well we thought they might hand out some GTs instead of accepting more than they can fill or rejecting everyone, but instead it looks like it’s yes or no. No one from here who applied got a GT for fall. But tons of people who were rejected are reapplying or considering it, so that’s always good.

But if you apply for fall, they hand out a ton of GTs then (both for the following spring semester and the following fall, which can be good or bad depending on what year of college you’re in.)
