Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

You guys rejected from Vassar  so I’m going to Emory lol I would have love to be close to you guys but I’m going to a grt school and for that I’m extremely grateful :D!!! Btw I just got Emory’s package =) Vassar was a long shot and I knew it. I mean 70 student applied and only 5 were accepted!! bah that’s crazy. East, hope to c u in Emory. Guys I will absolutely visit you over there.

Thanks for the kind words!

What made my application stand out? I think the biggest thing was a nonprofit that I co-founded a couple years ago (and also the reason I’m going to Ghana… malaria prevention campaign). Other than that, I think I expressed a lot of desire to be in ILR. Cornell was the only place I applied, and I tried to gear every part of my application toward how I would benefit the school, and vice versa.

Yeezy, have you tried calling? I haven’t received anything online or in the mail; I only found out by phoning admissions.

Canada congrats! What was your GPA like and what school are you transferring from?

congrats again jemmayale!

canada, i did call, they said they still hadn’t made a decision.

By the way Lacey, I think Water deserves some “Admin Power” on that facebook group. He is doing a hell of job promoting it! With more people in the group it is certainly going to help everyone’s transition into Cornell! Good stuff water! And good on you Lacey for starting it!

Canada congrats!!!

sorry jemma! but at least you get to go to emory and you know you can fly up to ny and visit us
canada, if you joined the group, say something cause i can’t figure out which person you are

I’m transferring from Wilfrid Laurier University, in Ontario.
I’m not actually sure what my GPA is on an American 4.0 scale… my school grades us a little differently. I’ve completed 63 credits though, by U.S. standards, and those were almost entirely As and A-s, pretty evenly mixed.

I haven’t joined the facebook group yet, because I’m waiting for financial aid to see if I can afford this crazy transition. Canadian universities are public and tuition’s about $5,000/year, so I’m bracing myself for a bit of a jump :stuck_out_tongue:
With that said, I don’t know who any of you are on the facebook group! I guess I should go back through these 182 pages for a bit of casual stalking.

yeezy, best of luck, I hope you make it. From the sounds of it, they haven’t sent out a lot of acceptances… the woman I spoke to said she was happy to finally tell someone they were in.

hehehe no, i will not join your rock band :P

and i GUESSSS i can make water an admin, since he goes to that thing more than i do anyway :P

soo my finaid was pretty decent… im still trying to figure out what to do though… ehhh kick me

oh and new TBWE song on jan 1st :] its sounds super nice, so everyone should check it out <3

what do you mean you’re trying to figure out what to do?! you said it’s decent, so COME!!! i will seriously cry for hours and hours if you dont.

and make me an admin also, i’m left out :frowning: i’ll be the official know-it-all-before-we-go admin!

Yeih for a new song :)

Thanks you guys :D

and Emine, I will totally do that and obviously you guys can come visit me in GA. At least I got my credit evaluation, 47 out of 62. Not bad. Ugh, I gotta take math and science :frowning: boooooo. Now to wait for FA package.

I’ve been looking at Cornell and was wondering if anybody can comment on how strong their govt/poli sci department is?

Lacey we’re kidnapping you whether you end up being a Cornell student or not. So basically you don’t get a choice.

Yayyyy I get to be an adminnnnnnn…i’ll make a cake now. @_@ (clearly i’ve been doing way too much work tonight)

Congrats on Emory, Jemma! Vassar doesn’t know what they’re missing in you. You and east will do awesome there and definitely make a trip up to visit all of us if you wanna/have the time and money.

New song? bobbling bocce balls, batman!

jemma, cornell only took 49 out of my 74 so that’s not so bad lol

jms, they’re government department is pretty strong. it’s their version of poli sci and there are really cool concentrations within it, so check out the website to see course listings and stuff.

i’m baking andy a cake cause his birthday is on friday  i haven’t baked anything since middle school so we’ll see how that goes lol

also i want to have a cornell party before we move in to announce/celebrate with my friends. would any of you come? i’d want you to :)

Emine…I will come to your Cornell party!!!
Lacey…I really hope you are coming. You are my bus buddy!!!
OK…I’m going to class!!
:)

Does anybody know of any GT’s for next fall from spring? Is Cornell still doing that?

Water, Emine, Lacey - do you guys know of anybody on the facebook group or outside that was accepted to ILR that is not on CC? I am just trying to gauge what the applicant pool looks like for this spring. Its seems like this spring is probably the hardest.

TFN, have you called ILR about your application?

Yeezy, I have not called. You? I am waiting for the letter. Do you think ILR is prolonging making decisions to see if some will not be able to attend? If that is the case some will not hear until January.

Rejected - ILR.

I didn’t get in. Just found out by phone. I don’t know why. I really gave it every last bit of what I had this time. Worked my butt off on my essays, 3.82 GPA, genuine passion in the school, summer experience in the field, researched all the opportunities, discussed hopes, made the CommonApp an example of good creative writing, made the “WHY ILR?” essay all about the ILR offerings. I don’t know what the h*ll else I could have done.

“Yes, a decision has been made. I need to confirm some information.”
“Sure”
half a minute of silence
“Wow, talk about building up suspense”
*confirms home address, birthday, phone
“The committee has reviewed your decision, and I’m sorry, we were unable to offer you admission.”

“Can I help you with anything else?”

What do you want, woman? Can I have fries with my third Cornell rejection?

Ouch, sorry to hear that viola…Did you get a chance to ask them why? They made it very clear to me why I wasn’t a competitive applicant, for which I’m glad since now I’m not bothering to apply for next semester. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be turned away for the 3rd time.
