Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

Thanks! That makes total sense.

Is anybody else applying for AEM? I was planning on applying in fall 2010 but now I’m starting to consider trying for spring. I would have all of the prereqs done by fall but I’m not sure if I could complete them for spring. Does anybody know if that would really count against me? Are the prereq requirements set in stone or are they flexible?

facebook group it :]

if the link doesn’t work (sometimes they dont… cause theyre lame) just group search Cornell Spring 2010 Transfers

Hold up… this is for the accepted transfers?

no, hence the word “prospective transfers”. its for anyone who’s applying

@ transferstudent 2: i’m in the same boat as you. i would be short of some prereqs and would like to know if they’re actually that stringent, esp since it’s spring transfer. the fact that i didn’t take any science APs or science college courses might hurt me.

I had e-mailed CALS admissions shortly before I made my post and, to my surprise, received an answer within a few hours and this is what I found out: for a sophomore transfer, they don’t have to be completed, but preference is given to applicants that have completed or are in process of completing them. They encouraged making arrangements to either take them over the summer (which has clearly passed) or the winter (which I plan on). They just said to indicate on your application if you plan on taking them during the summer/winter.

I thought this was great news; I should be able to have all sophomore AEM prereqs done by the conclusion of the winter intersession. I was originally intending on applying for next fall as a junior with all junior prereqs done but I figured, what do I have to lose applying for spring as a sophomore? If I get rejected I can always just apply again in the fall.

Good luck to all of the other fellow prospective Cornellians in this thread.

I’m trying to get used to the Common App site, since its the first time I’m using it. I was reading the instructions and one of topics mentioned is the school forms. It says that the LORs from both professors and college counselors can be submitted online. I was wondering if any of you, who have applied previously as a transfer using the common app, knows if this works also with transfer applicants. If so, what do u do? I followed the instructions but when i went to school forms all they have there is the pdf forms and thats it. Any response will be greatly appreciated.

P.S: The high school I used to go to, is in a terrible state. There’s no principal, the classroom have fungus and the desks are deplorable. There is such a chaos, that they are handling any paper work. I need my high school transcripts but I don’t know if I will be able to get them. What to do?

Hey everyone, thanks for all of your advice, i got a lot out of reading this forum! However, i still have a few questions, and if anyone could shed some light for me, that would be great!

I am just about to start college this coming fall at UC Davis, but, like all of you, Cornell is where i feel i need to be. I applied as a first year student, ED, but was denied. So, as I am prepping myself for college, i am curious as to if it matters that by the time i will be applying for the fall 2010 term, so i can be a soph at cornell, I will only have completed one and a half quaters at Davis. Will that really matter, or are all the others transferring in the same boat, with only a few grades to report?

My stats are:
coming from a private High School:

GPA: 3.5 (due to taking on way more EC’s than I should have)
SAT: 1930
EC’s: Student Body, Senior Class, and Junior Class President. Editor of my newspaper, Intern at John Muir Medical Center (shadowing heart surgeons performing quadruple bypasses) and many many others.

For college:
My GPA will be nothing less than a 4.0, though I am not in any honors classes. And i will continue with my private research regarding Energy Medicine as well as Leadership positions.

Any advice?? im incredibly nervous, and though I am keeping an open mind going to Davis…i still can’t get Cornell out of my head!

Study hard. Passion is good, but a lot of freshmen ‘predict’ 4.0 GPAs to find that it’s easier said than done. Study hard, get involved, and make sure to write a h*ll of an essay on why Cornell is right for you.

Good luck!

lawls… viola’s right, EVERYONE says theyre going to get a perfect 4.0…

is cornell good school?

how is babby formed

dupes, there will always be a special place in my CC heart for you.

You gotta love how people get along on here… man, we better all meet at Cornell. I know that it’s just a forum (the only forum I’ve ever really been extensively on) but it’s really been great with some of you guys.

I’M APPLYING!!! Fall '10 :D

• Recommendations
o I’ve had many amazing professors who have assured me they will write wonderful recommendations for me.

Please chance me on getting in :D

your highschool gpa made me laugh a little, in a good way. glad to see im not the only loser that bombed highschool only to do really well in college :P

wait, someone said something about needing just ONE recommendation? is it true? even for the hotel school? because doesn’t it say 2 on commonapp

what type of FIT is cornell looking for? someone who wants that kind of environment? or what? and can you please explain what a generic essay is? i’m not sure what it’s like …

you only need one recommendation. i sent 6 last time (…lol. may have played a role in my downfall), and this time i will be sending 3, which i think is an okay amount.

fit means your school’s goals, and how your goals and talents align with theirs. basically, they’re asking you to show how their educational philosophy will benefit both you and your community once you graduate. what will you get out of the school? what are you going to do with it? as long as they’re similar, you should have a solid essay about your fit for the school.
