Who's done w/ FAFSA?

our EFC is only about 9000, but i’m scared i won’t get nearly enough money…

Hey, you guys are all seniors, class of 2009 right? Are supposed to file the 2008-2009 FAFSA or the 2009-2010 FAFSA?

I AM VERY CONFUSED. @_@

kMz, the class of 2009 files a 2009-2010 FAFSA.

Wow, I’m surprised all of you have filed the FAFSA already. I just printed the worksheet out today and am confused by all the numbers.

I know nothing of my family’s income – dad’s gonna have to help me over the next few days.

I submitted mine yesterday in the afternoon, so Jan 1st around 3pm. Is that considered an early filing? I know everyone says its first come first served but will I seriously not get the same amount of funds if I decided to file later like Jan 31st or 15th?

It’s not first come first served.

It’s more like late come, not served.

They start doling out the financial aid in February or March. Your paper work needs to be there then. When it got there before then does not matter. Any time in January is as good as any other time. The deadline for you is when they need it, but that is a date you cannot know, so to be safe get it in in January.

Did the FAFSA on New Year’s Day, for 10 schools, will have to go in later and add more schools after this has been processed. D#3 better get moving with that Common Application process!

$15k EFC here. About what I was expecting.

I have 8k EFC just like every online fin aid calc, I pray to god that UChicago sees it the same way but I highly doubt they are gonna give me 45k in grants so I am expecting to be hit with loans.

I just filed mine!
i have an EFC of 65k!!!
not good…

I wonder who the first person done was.

we have EFC OF $2385, not complaining…

I finished with the FAFSA and CSS Profile last night! My DRN number is in the 7000s.

I hit submit today in the predawn hours…as my freshman in from college came home from his evening out and my h.s. senior daughter went out for breakfast with her boyfriend…I am going to take a well deserved nap now…my drn was 0955 so not sure that indicates sequence of submission. (unless that was a (10)955

feels good to have it done…

I think that is 10955. I submitted mine yesterday around 3 pm and my DRN was 9352

I am finished with FAFSA. Waiting on D1’s grant statement from her school to complete CSS for D2. No clue what numbers were. Also estimated a nice tax refund for the household.

I’m going to be a junior in college in 2009/10 and I was finally able to file as an independent, so my EFC is 0. I didn’t file my FAFSA last year because I had enough in savings to cover a full year of tuition and didn’t want to get saddled in loans when I didn’t have to but unfortunately that means I was not eligible for institutional aid but at least this year I can get a lot of federal aid.

DRN#7533 ended up with an efc of 16733. $50 less than I came up with on my own. The online calculators had a wide range of estimates, ranging from 14k to 20.8k. Feels good to have the official number and and have the form over with.

EFC = 0 w000000000000t
