Who's Giving Out the Athletic Scholarships?

<p>In doing some other research, I discovered the following information on the numbers of athletic scholarships (combined for male and female) at the USNWR Top 50 national universities. The numbers are for both the most recent freshmen class (unless otherwise noted) and for the entire school. I also added each college’s 2007 Final Directors Cup ranking. </p>

<p>I didn’t realize that Northwestern gave out that many athletic scholarships.</p>

<p>I would be very interested to see the numbers for Dook.</p>

<p>RPI’s scholarships obviously all go to the hockey program. The funny thing is that they still can’t compete with any of the Ivies.</p>

<p>The data all comes from the Financial Aid section of the CDS. The colleges listed as “na” don’t have a CDS (or at least not one that I could find). If anyone has a link for any of these colleges or knows their athletic scholarships numbers, please provide. Thanks.</p>

<p>Thie totals would generally be a function of NCAA rules and number & type of sports offered, correct?</p>

<p>Yes - they would have to be. Each sport has a maximum number of scholarships that it can offer in any given year and a maximum total number of students who can hold scholarships at any given time.</p>
