I think Matthew will win but agree that Leo is long overdue for his Oscar. He’s brilliant for sure.

I just hope American Hustle doesn’t win anything major. That film underwhelmed me.

Another vote for Matthew. I don’t think it’s even close, really. And Cate Blanchett.

My favorite film was All is Lost, which wasn’t even nominated, but I will watch the red carpet for the awkward.

Tonight I am having the second annual Academy Awards party at my house. I have friends coming to watch and ahead of time we fill out a ballot with our picks. Each person puts in 5 dollars and the winner takes all, including the tacky pseudo-gold Oscar statue from IParty!

DH and I watched Gravity on our new 3D TV last night. That was intense.

The special features were really good. Apparently all was going well, but when Clooney arrived to film his scenes, the entire production got a big infusion of positive energy and great humor. He sounds like such a character.

I don’t care who wins. It’s all about the fashion for me. I like the red carpet shows better than the Oscar show.

We watched " All is Lost" Friday night. H was snoring within 10 mins and I pick up my laptop and ended up on CC. Just couldn’t keep my attention.

The d’s and I are so psyched for the red carpet although we’ll be communicating by phone since they’ll be watching at a bar in Brooklyn and I’ll be home. Lupita is rapidly becoming a fashion icon a la Cate the Great… should be interested also to see Jennifer Lawrence. Hope that Julia Roberts and her stylist will pull together a better look than what she wore to the Golden Globes.

First time I’ll be watching without my Oscar buddy DD, who’s a first year college student on other coast. I may have to use the drinking game to get the males in the house interested enough to watch!

Nothing else good on TV this afternoon, so I actually have the E! channel on the TV right now with pre-Oscar coverage.

All is Lost perhaps needs to be seen in a theatre & Id agree for those who are used to movies with a lot of action, it might be hard to pay attention.

We saw Gravity in 3-d at the Cinerama wide screen & while I didnt fall asleep, I was surprised when it was nominated, because without much of a backstory for the characters, I just didnt care about what happened.
It wasnt just flaws in the science like why wasnt Bullocks hair floating around, but I was conscious of what was * set* and what was * green screen * even though I was sitting in the very best place in the theatre to watch the movie.

I dont go to many movies because I have a hard time prioritizing what to pay attention to.
So I get distracted because I cant suspend disbelief.

What a real astronaut thought of Gravity.

So when does red carpet start on the east coast?

An hour ago. E!

Just saw Liza Minnelli. I didn’t recognize her.

Nrdbsb4 - Totally agree!! I thought she looked horrible. What was with the blue stripe in her hair?

^^^^I guess she’s trying to look “current”? She seemed rather shaky. But, she’s not young anymore, and she may have some health issues to deal with.

I looked her up. I thought she was well into her 70’s, but she’s actually only 67.

Haha… I looked her up, too, but only spent about two minutes on the google page. Couldn’t find anything speaking to any current health issues, but again, I didn’t look very far.

I see the sun is out and shining; I’m sure many people are breathing a sigh of relief.

Interesting moment when Bruce Dern, AA nominee, tells Ryan Seacrest that he is so very good at what he does.

I have to agree. Ryan’s a total pro. He makes what probably isn’t all that easy seem effortless.
