Why are engineering schools usually separated from the rest of a university?

<p>Some schools like Princeton don’t limit you to engineering or arts/sciences after you’re accepted.</p>

<p>At most other universities, you apply for a separate college.</p>

<p>Engineers must be kept seperate because they are a bad influence. They are more likely to blow things up just “for testing purposes”, spray the dorm hallway with liquid nitrogen when it’s warm out so you can ice skate, or some other dangerous fun thing.</p>

<p>At many schools, Eng’g has different req’ts, less Core/GenEd, and requires more credits to graduate.</p>
