Why are FAFSA updates rejected?

Good evening, all!

I’m an undergraduate student and will be getting married this summer! My fiance is also an undergraduate student and we are about to start out senior year this fall. I was doing some research about whether or not it would be beneficial of us to update our FAFSAs this summer as we currently don’t qualify for any financial aid. I found a website that said that we could change our marital statuses but that there is a possibility that our FAFSA updates could be rejected by our schools (we attend different universities) as the amount of financial aid we receive is up to the financial aid offices.

So my question is: how likely are we to receive financial aid once we’re married? Is there a large possibility that our FAFSA updates could be rejected?

I work and go to school full time and will continue to do so. My fiance is a full time student but doesn’t work.

Thank you in advance!

How are you both paying for college…and how do you plan to,do so?

My fiance’s school is currently being paid for by his parents. My school is being paid for by me. We both are receiving some help via scholarships through our schools. After we are married we plan to pay via loans, whatever I can bring in, and hopefully whatever financial aid is given to us!
