<p>I got the new version of the Red Book and looked at the two new tests that were given and the curves were EXTREMELY generous.</p>
<p>I don’t have it in front of me, but you can miss like 10-12 and still get a 30 on math, 5 and still get a 32 on English, etc. </p>
<p>Are these the real curves? Why are they so generous? I did think that the math sections were a bit harder than usual, but the rest of the test seemed normal to me.</p>
<p>I’d like to know about this too.</p>
<p>Should I feel confident about practice test scores? I’d hate to feel so confident because of my practice scores, only to get take the real ACT with almost no curve and end up disappointed.</p>

<p>^ That’s basically my dilemma as well. I felt much more confident after coming out of my last test since I expected the curves to be higher.</p>
<p>I think that the tests in The Real ACT book were previously administered tests. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. </p>
<p>But anyway, I have a little theory that the ACT might be changing up its format a tiny bit. If you look at the early tests in the Red Book, the PDFs on the site, and other study guides, you can see that all of the problems are fairly accessible/ easy. The curve was usually -6 to still get a 30. However, with the new tests in the Red Book, the difficulty of the last 10-15 math problems were noticeably more difficult. The October ACT math section was similar to the ones I saw in the new edition of the Red Book, which is making me think that the ACT is transitioning over to a harder math section, but with a more generous curve.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that this is just a theory.</p>
<p>Every one of those tests are old ACT exams. The curve must be generous because it must have been one of the most difficult ACT exams given. Same with the SAT. If you get an easy math section, the curve will most likely be something like 800 760 whereas a difficult math section could be 800 790 or 780.</p>
<p>In the Real ACT Prep Book I noticed that the harder tests had more easier curves and the easier ones had harder curves. For example on an easier Math ACT practice test I missed 3 and got a 33 and on another, harder one I missed 4 and got a 35. And on one of the harder Science ACTs I missed 4 and got a 32 and on an easier one I missed 3 and got a 31.</p>
