Why are the dining hall burgers so terrible?

I live on West this year.

Over my life, I’ve had very many burgers. From burgers in restaurants, to burgers made on an actual BBQ, to the cheap burgers at my high school, camp, and even burgers you put in the microwave.

Never in my life have I ever had burgers as absolutely terrible as the ones in the Cornell dining halls. Why is this? I like all of those types of burgers I listed up there from the well-made to the cheap kind, but these things are ridiculously bad. They are cooked on a grill right in front of you but they don’t taste anything like how you expect a burger to taste, and in fact I don’t understand HOW they can be so bad. They’re thin, dry, and tasteless. What the heck are they using and why can’t they make good burgers?

The one exception is Risley.

If you don’t like the burgers eat something else…Your lucky you have so much to choose from.
