Why are there no supplemental essays?

<p>Why did Richard Shaw choose to remove any required supplemental essays for 2006?</p>

<p>Don’t you feel it lessers the app in any way, though? I mean look at some school that get like four different essays, each one offering a different view of the applicant.</p>

<p>“The idea is that this will lead to more applications, and perhaps help the university to attract more students from underprivileged backgrounds.” We want “more students from underprivileged backgrounds” so that we can say that we have a lot of them and therefore are doing good for society, and also so that those we accept are qualified…</p>
